blades are what I like. Made in Russia are
the best ones. 6¢/blade

1941 Gillette “Super Speed” TTO (Turn To
Open) double edge safety razor.
1965? Gillette “Travel Razor” Three Piece
double edge safety razor.
1953 Gillette classic Gillette Super Speed
TTO.
1931 Gillette Three Piece shaver. Double
edge safety razor. Dull nickel plated color.
1940 Gillette Three Piece shaver. Double
edge safety razor. Shiny Gold plated finish.

When I need a real shave I use my antiquated Gillette / Atra twin cartridge razor with boar or horsehair brush and soap cup, but daily I use a Norelco triple head rotary but it can never get my Adam's apple or sideburns good enough so a dry shave touch up with the Gilette is in order every few days.

Afterward I use Witch Hazel just like in the old western movies.

I have a Gillette (five blades) which is what I use if actually going somewhere that 'matters'. Otherwise I has two Phillips electrics (one three head and one two head). They have been my general use razors for most times. The two head I bought at the BX at Dover AFB many years ago as we were getting ready to depart on the C5. There are times when water is not to be wasted and the little electric was there for me then and has been there for me still today

I've used an electric for decades. I like the Norelco's and my preference is for a corded razor; that means a basic Norelco. My current one is still going and I change the blades every couple of years. The replacement blades I need are getting harder to find. The trouble is that the only corded ones they sell now do not have a pop up trimmer. Guess I'll keep my old one limping along.

Regardless of the razor I enjoy a boars hair bristle brush a mug and a good soap. Problem is that you can't find soap anymore. The kids now days use beard oil, beard balm, gel in their hair etc. but no mug and brush. I kept a full beard for a long time when men wore them. Now every kid working at Starbucks has a Grizzly adams beard that's combed oiled and scented daily. I went back to my traditional cop and 70s porn star mustache look. ( I was a cop by the way, not a porn star!)

I used irish spring and boars bristle for decades, and some of the glycerin soaps come in delightful (delicious, even) flavours...er...scents...

Ebay has literally thousands of soaps to choose from. We're not alone!

I have two old Gillette adjustables, I dont know how old they are. Right now I'm working through a 100 pack of Derby blades; i get about 4 or 5 shaves to the blade. I like cup/brush/soap but most days use Cremo shaving cream, comes in a tube, lasts me 6 months.

Go on line, hundreds of cream and hard shave soaps. I get a hard soap from Stirling in Arkansas, a scent called Baker Street is my favorite,they also have brushes razors after shaves ect. Bull Goose in California is also good but pricy. Trufffit & Hill along with Geo Trumpker, booth out if England have some fine cream soaps and aftershave lotions.
Just goggle what you are looking for and you will find lots of sources in the US, there ar a lot of us who wer shave to keep numerous companies in business.

I use an old Gillette razor. It is the one my dad used to teach me to shave. I prefer it to anything else I've used.
The real reason I replied to this thread is I wanted to say thanks. A few years ago Gillette, (unless I'm mistaken), quit making double edged razor blades. The dollar store quit selling the blades I had used for years. I searched online at the time & wound up buying some Wilkinson blades. I haven't been too happy with them. There have been several different blade manufacturers & links shared in this thread. Now I have some different options to try. I honestly don't shave every day as I work construction. It just isn't necessary.
I go back & forth between having a beard, wearing a goatee, & shaving everything but my mustache. I've kept the mustache since I was 17. Gotta have something to cover some of the ugly up with.

Never shaved the lip, started shaving at 13 because mom said i looked like a hobo. So every sunday morning after that, no matter how long it got in the betweens, until i got a job that demanded be shaved every day, and they got onto me about not shaving close enough, i get a 5:00 shadow around noon...so i found the screen type, "medi-shaver", to stay smooth several times a shift just for the petty martinets.
I hate shaving.

Hated shaving my chin during 20 years of military service, vowing to never scrape on it with a blade again.

With a moustache and goatee that I keep neat, I still shave my cheeks and neck under my chin 2-3 times a week - going on 27 years now.

Best combination? A simple Gillette Trac 3 razor, soap or shampoo, handheld shower head and a $12-15 suction cup mirror stuck on the wall in a steamy shower. Fast, efficient and actually comfy.

Pro Tip:
Costco and Walgreens both sell knockoff Trac 3 blades for way less than Gillette charges.
