Absolutely! Both highly underrated! I have both of them on DVD's.
I think I'll watch To Live And Die In LA tonight. Great music score! Who can forget John Pankow in the back seat groaning and holding his head when they realize that everybody's out to get them, both the good guys and the bad guys LOL
The car chase in To Live And Die in LA ranks up there with Bullitt and The French Connection. Although I have always been a Mustang Gal I would take the 440 Charger as first choice.

After watching decades of detective/police shows that all take place in cities like L.A., Miami, NYC, San Fransisco, Baltimore, etc. I always wondered why anyone would want to live in one of these crime-ridden hellholes?
Because TV is not the real world...I can personally speak of the Baltimore "hellholes" but the entire city is not like what is depicted on TV. Yeah there are some pretty NASTY areas (IE: Orleans St) and the politics of MD alone are nasty. But MD is a pretty cool place depending on your interests.
Just like Maine has very decent places but has some nasty spots....and isn't very friendly to the 2A with waiting periods. Like Maryland, Maine leans heavy to the left party.

Are you trying to tell me that everything I see on TV isn't real? What about the "Real Housewives of ______?"
I know that what is shown on TV isn't a real depiction of life in the cities, but they try to make it seem like that is what it is like. I spent almost a year in Baltimore, I know that there are "Bad" parts of most town/cities. I also spent a lot of time in NYC, DC, Chicago, Norfolk and Boston. Even small cities like Lewiston, Me. have bad parts that I don't want to spend time in after dark.
Have you ever watched "Midsomers Murders?" with DCI Barnaby, both of them. This show takes small villages in the peaceful English countryside. Throughout the span of 136 episodes, there have been more than 388 murders, 423 deaths in total and an additional 250 attempted murders or suicides.
For a BLUE state Maine isn't that bad on 2A. I am originally from Mass.
Don't get me started on Norfolk and DC. I helped start up a private security company based in VA Beach but majority of contracts were Norfolk/Newport News. As for DC I covered the worst areas in that cess pool for years a District and Regional Investigator. In my opinion, DC is the worst of the worst, and not just pocketed areas. Baltimore second and then Philly.....York PA is also very small but incredibly nasty place.
I had minimal experience in Chicago, NYC and only a smidge in Boston. Usually tracking/surveillance of am ORC group.
Anytime you have a waiting period to buy a firearm that is all bad.
Waiting period is gone for now. The private sale debacle is still a cluster but you can technically still do a face to face cash sale under certain circumstances.
That's good to know. Guy at work is from there and we were just talking about it last week. He transferred to MD from there and was comparing the 2A friendliness. He was dumbfounded at all the stupidity of buying a firearm in MD....even with the waiting period ME (He was under the impression it was still in place) was better. Thankfully I live in neither place and so far still free from all the BS...so far....

I was a detective for many years. None are realistic. They only work one case at a time. In real life that happens for a very short time. Usually its a load of cases that never stop coming in. No matter what there are always new cases before the old ones are done. The wire and NYPD blue were both good shows though.

Speaking of detective shows, there is a new one. Most know of the Yellowstone trilogy, Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923. So now they have a spinoff called Marshals about the Dutton son. I watched the first episode.
Well they killed of the wife (the actress probably figured she didn't need to be on "just another cop show"). But that's not what it is. It's "just another soap opera cop show", with indians and horses. Not worth the bandwidth.
By the way, the Dark Winds series seems to be headed that way as well.

I was thinking about it. The old shows I remember them giving clues along the way, if you paid attention you could solve it before they did. Murder She wrote, Perry Mason even Scoobi Doo was like that. Maybe I am remembering old kids books? The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, etc. all fed you clues and let you figure it out.
Now you are just along for the ride. Waiting to see where they are taking you.

The new shows are action packed, but mindless.

Recently watched a series on Netflix, How to get to Heaven from Belfast. The writers said they were trying to make it sort of like Murder She Wrote, but with 3 women who weren't good at it.:ROFLMAO: Pretty entertaining, lots of twists and turns.
I also watch Midsomer Murders, it's as dangerous a place as Cabot Cove.

Been kinda getting into the old Dragnet series lately. But, Jimmy Rockford still my fav. Used to like Magnum, but gave up on him when he started touting the house stealing scheme of reverse mortgages.
