If you start at the start load and work up, the brass manufacturer is not significant in .44 mag. I have weighed all of the major brands and the most variance that I have seen is .5gr.

Most of us do not worry about different manufacturers of the brass,, except to seperate them by manufacturer. As always,, start low,, and build an accurate load. BTW: Hornady does have it's own brass,, but don't let that stop you from using those Win cases.

I've loaded a ton of Winchester .44mag brass using Hornady recipes. The Winnie brass works well with the 240 XTPs. While the XTPs are extremely accurate for me in .44 mag and work well on deer, they tend to get a little pricey for everyday plinkin'. Most any bulk 240gr JHP/JSP will work well using the Hornady specs. As was mentioned before start low and work your way up. 4227 is a good powder to work with for a beginner. It will fill the case preventing double charges, it measures easily and shoots well.
