I was loading up some .44mag earlier and for some reason my powder drops were not very consistent and this is pretty much out of the ordinary for my Dillon 550b so I decided to check every damn load after the drop. it was about 4/10ths to .5 of a grain off...some over and some under. while this was frustrating to have to stop and check every damn load on a very good and reliable loader, I did not feel comfortable letting that sort of variable to go unchecked. now in the big scope of things .5gr is not that much of a deal when loading 18gr like in a .44mag but if I were loading say 3-3.5gr for our .380 then that is a much different story. then about 1/2 way through, I noticed something "other" than powder dropped and was sticking out of the filled case..........

I had similar incidence a number of years ago.....and found that somehow my previously cleaned cases had become randomly home of a rodent-nibbled cherry pit. Amazing how inconsistent the powder charge can be given the variability of such an unexpected finding.

I don't think any manual I've read ever mentioned 'cherry pits'.

Chef Problem solved! Must of been in your jug of powder.

I can't think of any other possibility......just wondering if anyone else ever got any "extras" in their powder. sure like the idea of a Vegas style powder measure.............
