I was 17 when the 1022 was introduced. I wasn't interested for a few years after that because I was afraid of a recall...

I was given one (10/22) for Xmas when I was 16. It was stolen when I was 19 just before I moved out on my own.

I didnt buiy another for years but always thought about it. Since then I have two, and a 96/22. One of my 10/22 is heavily modded, the other looks like it isnt.

The 10/22, a GOOD thing>

My friend Stan had one and I thougth it was so cool. I was really jealous of that rifle and his shooting ability with it. I thought my dad had bought me a 10/22 when I opened the wrapped present on Christmas morning, and I said, "A Ruger 10/22!!" It turned out to be a Marlin 99M1 instead. Oh well.

I was grown long before the 10/22's. I grew up with a Winchester pump .22, but did have a Ruger Standard .22 auto pistol in the 50's. Wish I had kept it. :)

Be sixty-one on the 23rd and have never had one.
Grew up with a single shot. Bought Marlins for my boys (only thing the local hardware store carried) and Henry's for my grandkids, and wife.

I didn't have a 10/22 until I was about 20 years old..
Grew up on a Marlin Bolt Action & later a Remington Nylon 66 Autoloader..
When I finaly aquired a used 10/22 I was hooked for life..
They are without a doubt the most popular 22 rifle out there & with so many mods & aftermarket parts available..
If you don't have one "Get One"

Nope, I got a Marlin model 60 when I was ten. I probably had more fun with that rifle in the first 15yrs I owned it than anything I've had since. Didn't get my first 10/22 until I was in my early 20's.

I've never had one. I started shooting my dad's Browning T-bolt when I was 5 and bought a Winchester 9422 when I was 11. The only two .22 handguns I've ever had were Single Sixes though.

I had a Marlin bolt Action as a kid.

I didn't actually own a 10/22 for myself until this year.

Wife owned one for years and sometimes let me shoot it.

I shot my dads guns as a kid, but never had a 10/22 (nor did he). I got my first firearm at 25, a 50's-60's era catalog .22 tube fed bolt action, given to me by my dad. It says "wards westernfield" on it, but no model # so i dont actualy know what it is. I didn't get any more guns till I turned 29 last year. Got a P95 for home defence, then a few months later I got the bug bad bought a mark II target 22/45, and then for christmas i got my first 10/22.... My current fav gun, an SR-22 :D... next purchase will be a remingoton 870 shotgun, then I'll probably look for another ruger mark II pistol....

I didn't..... got my 1st 10/22 when I was 36. I had a Browning T-bolt when I was ~10 or so.... sold it after I found out it had the "salt-wood" problem and I wasn't equipped to fix it. :x

First 22 autoloader was a Nylon 66. Next came a coveted Glenfield M60, accurate beyond my capabilities; the fact it could hanlde shorts and long rifles was very cool. My first 10/22 didn't appear until after HS. I always considered it a re-engineered M60 with a neat magazine? but it could never shoot shorts. Major bummer.

If I had to bet the mortgage on a side-by-side box-stock endurance contest, I'd bet on the Remington.
