Need 10/22 help

I jut got an older 1966 10/22.
I pulled the bolt back and locked it open.
Now I can not close the bolt.
Yes, I do know how to do it (I have 4 other 10/22's.)
How can I fix this

I tryed that, Now the bolt is galling?

Remove the trigger group, bolt catch is part of that... make sure pin holding bolt catch and mag plunger is present, as well as the pin at the top which holds ejector and tensions bolt catch spring.

Does it just need cleaned really well? The whole mechanism isn’t difficult to take apart.

If the bolt is bad, you could buy another one somewhere.

Time to quite fooling around, complete tear down, clean and then see what happens. BTY, I got a 10-22 made in 1966 in July. Guy shot it a lot and as with most people never took it apart to clean. Their easy, even if you have never disassembled a firearm. Learn and do it. You tube has many who know and show that stuff.

Pull it out of the stock, remove the trigger guard assembly and the remove the buffer or pin and then the bolt assembly.
Clean thoroughly, lube and reassemble. Should be good.

Sounds to me like the bolt stop is missing.

The fix - I took it apart. Replaced the trigger housing. and that fixed the problem.
