I didn't. My dad had a Mossberg bolt action and he gave my brother and me a Nylon 66 each. (the Mossy was stolen about 20 years ago, but we still have the Nylon 66's)
Bought my first 10/22 when I was in my early twenties.

Sad to say, I purchased my very first 10/22 this month. :( :( :(

Needed a gun my Grandson and I could drag around+ had a spot in a cabinet that need filed with something. I have had several 22's but those I really really like are a pair of early 77/22's. One mod for indoor silhouette and one I just keep around...incase the other one goes down!

No 10/22's when I started...mine was a Marlin 989M2, a minature version of the M1 carbine. still have it today. can't count how many rounds through it. several years ago Marlin offered to rebuild any gun for $25, so she went to marlin for a tune-up, took scope off to ship it, got it back with a new rear site installed.

next: 10/22 international

I believe it was in 1966, I was fourteen, when I purchased my first firearm, a 10/22, from the local hardware store for $54.50. I thought a 10/22 would be the best squirrel rifle ever made and just had to have one. The two of us spent many memorable hours in the woods together.
