My girlfriend's son finished a weeks stay. His most pleasant part of the day was having coffee with mom in the am planning out the day-refreshing! :)
The video brought home what we have allowed technology to change in our lives. It is up to us to cherish our time together. Human touch is very powerful.

Threw the cell phone out when I retired. Don't need one, don't want one. My wife has a burn phone and it is only for emergencies. I spend $20 per quarter for it. Far too many people are now "obliviots" because they are not "LIVING" in a real world. That spot was right on target.

That's me also, only I borrow my wife's phone when I need one. Thinking I might get a pre-paid in the near future. :D

Funny and ironic that this video is on Facebook. I try to stay off there as much as possible but I guess it has my IP address because all my wife's stuff just came up. Friends, Likes, Chats and IM's you can have it. I don't want it. I hope this doesn't become a trend here with people posting things from Facebook. :shock:

My youngest daughter, who's phone has every bell and whistle know to man, said to me; "Every time I call your cell phone it sends me to voice mail. Don't you ever turn it on?" I told her that I bought the phone for MY convenience. I turn it ON when I need to use it and OFF the rest of the time. The only thing 'extra' I have is the ability to 'text' and that is done by mashing "2" once for an 'a', twice for a 'b', and three times for a 'c', etc for the rest of the alphabet. No keyboard.

I was a freakin mad man. At our Xmas dinner with all the family my neice and nephew were texting each other at opposite ends of the table. Nobody carries on a conversation by looking at the other person. It's what ever is going on on F'book. I hollered at everyone that had a dadgum phone to leave or put their dang phone up for an HOUR! My cell phone grew a 45 cal hole in the middle of the screen! Good phone!

I don't get excited about it. When we have family dinners we just ignore any cell phones or even our house phone while we eat. The children are always included in the discussions over food, and thoroughly join in. I find this to be one of the finer things of family get to gathers. I love to hear the youngsters point of view on all things permissible. They don't even think about answering a phone.

OTOH, my Wife has her office on the third floor of our home, and I have my man cave on the bottom floor where I can walk right out to the pool and lake. There is a reason for that. Neither one of us wants the other to mess with their computer, and whenever there is a problem, we both think we know better. See, it's best for a happy marriage.

Here's where we use the modern technology. If I desire to take her out to lunch I either call her on her business line, or I sometimes e-mail her. That's much easier than yelling up, or climbing two flights of stairs. Works good for us.

Technology is not always bad. :D

Course our cat travels the house trying to keep up with what each of us is doing. After while though she gives up and finds a place to sleep.

The modern marvels of technology, the ability to communicate with previously unreachable relatives. The wonderful opportunities to reach family members and friends over great distances, not just to talk but to SEE them...

...And the focus here is the negative aspects. So shameful, and sadly predictable...

Au contraire! I really like my cell phone. I use it mostly as a pocket computer, GPS, calculator, etc. I don't do facebook, very rarely us it for a typed message but I find it very handy for looking up how to do something on Youtube, looking up something that I just thought about and that kind of stuff. Minimal person to person stuff and most of that on the telephone function. My ring tone is the ring of the old phones of the 50s and 60s. I think a phone should ring like a phone.

As with most things, there are good and bad points to our current technology. Certainly, there is the convenience factor. On the other hand, I have frequently observed groups of people sitting around a table in a coffee shop or diner texting madly away, nobody saying a word. We now have a generation of people who do not know how to function without a cell phone or computer. Not good.
