Ordered a mattress and it arrived a few minutes ago...in a box 11" x 11" x 48". Open it and it is vacuum sealed and expanses to a "full size" when unwrapped. Unbelievable!

Memory foam, crazy stuff. I had one of those mattresses for a time but had to get rid of it. It didn't breathe like a regular mattress and I often woke up in sweat. Perhaps a topper would have helped, but I went back to a springer.

They are pretty amazing aren't they? I want to see the machine in action that smashes the mattress down and rolls it up in the plastic.

My only concern is, how long do they last? Will these new foam mattresses last as long as a conventional mattress?

Because otherwise, the end result is a garbage dump full of dirty old used foam. Or can they be recycled?

Well it's got to be better than the old old Sleep Number. It was literally starting to blow out in sections. When it developed a 'hole' it was time to go. I did get a 'topper' for it.

I've had a few as my back conditions changed after surgeries. Both mattresses and toppers. It is sort of cool how they grow when taken out of box/bag. I have a couple pillows that came in a box the size of lunch box....but they all had one thing in common.....that smell!!!

"comes USPS in a box about the size of a pack of cigarettes...."
and actually includes a couple of cigs to smoke in bed after  :rolleyes:
