i was out to get powder n primers today and on the way out i always walk by the glass cases just incase becuase ive been looking out for a 4 5/8 45lc blackhawk instead i see a nice lil polised stainless vaquero sheriff model always thouth they were neat exc shape with the white grips so i put it on hold. it only said vaquero not new vaquero is it an old model how can i tell ill toss a pic when it comes home

If it was a .45 Colt and marked Vaquero ... then it is a old Vaquero (Large Frame).
If is was a .44Spec and marked Vaquero ... then it is a New Vaquero (medium frame).

Then it is an old Vaquero.

Note that there is no such thing as an 'Old Model' Vaquero. All Vaqueros and New Vaqueros are New Models.... Just an FYI.

Note there is a <shift> key on the keyboard for capitalization purposes too ;) .

It's a low production, special order model - only about 2,300 made.

Vaquero serial number starts with 55- through 59-

New Vaquero serial number starts with 510-, 511-

Hope this helps.

and typing tips as well!
Well, sometimes I just wonder if the <shift> and punctuation keys are broken (left off?) on some keyboards ;) . Ha!

Good point there Hugh!

Danggit, I am trying like the devil to buy a reasonably priced case colored one in 45 and this man just finds one in the local shop. :(

Believe the Sheriff model referred to is the Acusport issue from 2001.

I also picked one up recently and was wondering approximately what it may be worth these days. The condition of mine is very good with only a fine line around the cylinder.

I can't recall seeing any up for sale before so just curious if you folks have any idea what it might be worth.

Thanks a lot and always- you guys are the best- my favorite website of all.

I have seen three sell recently for $500 and just under. There is one on GB right now that the seller claims is NIB and wants $750. I don't think he's going to get it.

Very nice John. Very nice indeed. Do you plan to shoot it much? Mine is at the gunsmith's now getting a Cowboy action job and general checkup.

My boy and I will shoot ours a good amount in the future. We also have a pair of the Montados all tuned up that we use regularly. I do like the Montados a great deal. To me the Montados shoot nice with 200gr ammo so I don't feel the need to shoot anything heavier out of them.

I guess with the Acusport in the above picture you could shoot a hotter ammo if you wish. I don't reload as of yet so ammo choices are somewhat limited, but i guess its nice to know you can go with hotter ammo at times if you see fit.

Nice gun- hope you enjoy it!!
