Why does a fixed sights Vaquero cost 20%+ more than an adjustable sights Blackhawk?

Just got done on the ROCS site answering that! LOL. The only reason I could think of is the steel vs. aluminum grip frames.

I bought a used Blackhawk in .357 for $450. Shoots like a laser. I bought a used Vaquero in .45 Colt for $650, same condition, same year. The Vaquero’s action is smoother out of the box, the trigger breaks cleaner, and it balances better in my hand. But is it $200 better? Not for hunting or target shooting. For fun? For the cool factor? Yeah, honestly, it is.

Because there are less of them. Same as the FS ROA, made for the cowboy shooters.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
Market demand vs available supply.

I can see this with used guns, but I don't think MSRP for new models would/should be based on supply and demand.

I believe MSRP is based on cost to manufacture, plus what the manufacturer deems is a "reasonable" profit margin for the distributor/retailer.

Sold/gave my 1958 Blackhawk to my brother-in-law and bought an older (bigger) Vaquero Bisley in .45 Colt. It's much more fun to hold and shoot. I'd had the old Blackhawk since 1972 and used less than one box of .357 shells. It's a fluffy kittens cat with Plus P .38 special. Too loud for me. Love that Bisley Vaquero.

My NV action is a lot smoother than the NM BH (both .357):
