USPS for the win!

I have a new shipment from USPS. This one is great. 900 miles so far.

I buy my postage online, print the label with barcodes, and tape the label to the box. Leave it in my mailbox and that's it.
Same with all except the mailbox part. I have to take mine to the PO or Pack N Mail as more than once I had a pre-paid flat rate package get picked up by the route driver and scanned in but never seen again.

I have accounts with USPS, UPS, and FedEx. I can do most anything I need from my phone or a desktop ... and they still lose my stuff.

Yep, USPS is great. Two packages sent from the same company at the same time. One arrived today. The other just hit Seattle. They had to come from a city less than twenty miles away.

And I just got the email that the package had been delivered. Not bad only 5 hours after delivery. Hardly gave the thieves any time at all to steal it.

Back in the 1970’s there was a test between usps and the Pony Express Riders that were re-created with change of horses and mail drop offs. Kansas to Montana i believe and o e letter was dropped into a mail box iand a second one handed to the Pony Express Rider. The Pony Express won.

The problems with shippers I believe is related to "work ethic" of the employees. If you happen to ship an item and the individuals are just there to pick up a "pay check" and do not have pride in what they are doing then the problems are ensued. Are all people like this, no but many are. Some of the people are carrying baggage such as a political stance and notice a return label with an American Flag on the package. The address from a firearms manufacturer usually does not have their name spelled out in the address. The first line will be something like SRF Co etc.

Shipping codts gave gotten out of hand. Flat Rate has gone up a lot in the past five years.
First Class Postage is $.78/ounce. Nothing like "privatizing" the Postal Service, but in my opinion, it works as well as any other shipper. This year BC/BS Insurance used Walgreens for mail-order drugs. WG shipped my drugs from AZ to NC via DHL. DHL picked up the shipment in AZ and turned it over to USPS. Once during the year my order for Eliquis (2x/day) got lost for a week, I ran out of the drug contacted WG, the drug was shipped overnight FedX. This is an expensive drug, three days later, after receiving the FedX shipment, I received the original shipment. Two days ago I was informed by BC/BS that they were changing over to Amazon Pharmacy for 2026. I spent 3 hours trying to establish an account with Amazon Pharmacy and kept getting a 500 computer error, no account yet.

That’s impressive. When USPS is on their game, they’re hard to beat. Two days from Pittsburgh to California is moving right along. Always nice to see them get a win like that.

And the second box arrived a couple of hours ago. Empty! I guess somebody in Seattle needed what I ordered so it was redirected there so they could steal the contents. They can't say the contents were stolen by a package thief. I was out to pick it up before the mailman made his next delivery across the street.

I tossed boxes part-time for a couple seasons at fed-ex, with security, live video, and metal detectors. Still, some kid got himself busted when he tried to use b.u. silver proof quarters in the coke machine. I was asked what i thought of this, so i told her exactly what they were and how the kid likely got them. She knew me from when i worked security there before.
