I haven't really been complained about the post office lately but I guess it's my turn.
New Year's Eve I get a notification I got a package in the mailbox- prescription drugs from CVS.
Ain't no package in the mailbox.
And there's nothing I can do about it because: For safety reasons, the USPS does not search for prescription drugs.
So they won't even take a report that my package is missing.
So now I'm going to have to go back through CVS and/or my doctor's office to get it again.

I have discovered a recent change that contributes greatly to the lack of performance by USPS. Used to I could drop a prepaid package off before closing time and it would be on the move and in Ft Worth by the end of the day ... departed FTW most times. Now I drop something off (yesterday was 8:38 AM) and it does not move an inch until the next day. Guessing the mail doesn't get picked up twice any more, just once very early in the morning. Instead of one coming and one going, it's a single truck that drops off and picks up? Add the same BS on the other end and it adds two day minimum. My cheaper insured and tracked packages are taking over a week when they were 3-4 days. Priority used to be two days and is now 4-5. All the while postage is up.
I use UPS for anything shoe box or bigger...unless it fits in a flat rate box.

As I've mentioned, USPS has lost the majority of the more dedicated employees and those left are just marking time until they can move on. I'm currently awaiting a meeting with my Representative to help him understand the who/what/how the degradation of local USPS delivery has unfolded. He's making progress with correcting failures in 'hubs' and sorting centers KCMO/KCKS/St Lou MO but it's all uphill as the management is working hard to cover up their failures.
It can work but takes knowledge and effort. Fifteen years ago, a USPS delivery manager from St Louis showed up at our little community center to 'discuss' the closing of the village Post Office. Since I had recently retired from USPS, I had all the information and numbers to make a stand. After several minutes of being pushed into a corner by the undeniable facts, that manager picked up his briefcase and left. BTW, that village PO is still open 6 days per week.
I'm still fighting by way of my Representative to keep those offices open and rural mail delivery functioning.

I just received a Christmas card in the mail yesterday, don't see any date stamp on the envelop. I'm assuming it was mailed appropriately ahead of a Christmas deadline.
I spoke with a church member that works at the PO and he told me it was likely because of the RED envelop.

Here's my take on this USPS issue...
Employees who sort are deliberately sorting incorrectly to...
A. Get better pay
B. Force hiring more boots on the ground to alleviate workloads.
C. Punish the USPS for whatever their gripes may be.
D. Just be lazy and get the paycheck.

I live in the county seat and by far the largest town in 30 miles any direction and our PO is open M-F and has been since before I moved here in 2005. I will have to go to a neighboring town population 1200 this morning to have a package sent out ... that will sit in that PO until Monday early AM ... or Tuesday. How can a PO of a town with 18K people not be open on Saturday? Why does a package sit in a PO for over 24 hours before leaving when there are trucks coming and going?
GG, I can only guess at the answer(s) to your questions. A post office of that size would have a 40 hour per week Postmaster plus at least one (maybe 2) part time clerks who would handle postal operations on Saturday. Depending on the delivery requirements, there might even be a full time delivery supervisor and full time clerk(s).
The first office I worked operated this way: PM was there 8 hours per day M-F but on Saturday, a PTF (part time flexible) clerk worked 4 hours in the morning getting mail sorted to carriers and handling window services plus 2 hours after the carriers returned from their routes to prepare collected mail for the evening dispatch.
If workhours/budgets get cut, the most likely reductions would come with Saturday window service and/or afternoon outgoing mail dispatch. I have seen instances in which the returning carriers simply stuffed their collected mail in bags which were left in the 'vestibule' (accessible to the 'star route' truck drivers) to be returned to a mail distribution hub for sorting. This was a common practice even before I retired in 2009. Beyond that, I can't answer to why there's no counter service or mail dispatch on Saturday.

Save your trip, if the package isn’t going anywhere until Monday anyway, just mail it Monday?

Maybe ... except the not moving thing is new so I am hoping it goes back to normal.
Well, a small flat rate "Priority Mail" box with a postage of $6.80 just a few short years ago, is now an unbelievable $12.60.

We've all had issues with USPS, including me. But I don't worry, because AI robots are on the way and will fix everything.

I wonder if China has similar issues with mail. They've got 3 times the population of the US, and a lot of it in very remote places.
As in war, the efficiency of logistics can make or break a country, or a battle. And logistics is what the post office and other delivery services are all about.

Buyer is antsy and I don't blame him.

Not really 4 days. Monday was a holiday with no mail pickup. Tuesday afternoon it was picked up at the point of origin ( perhaps a dealership or business?) So it doesn't start its journey until the next day Wednesday, according to your post above. And was scanned at the point of destination the next day, Thursday. Gainesville to Dallas is about 74 miles. So the post office delivered it for right at a penny a mile. If that is unacceptable, people should deliver their letters and packages themselves. Especially f they can do it for a penny a mile.
I reached out to the seller and asked him to initiate a trace.....
I'd say he called it!
