Is a barrel length of 4 5/8" just simply too short to put some type of optical sight on. If not a scope, maybe a Red Dot type sight. I just got a new SBH with the 4 5/8" barrel, great barrel length for ease of carrying, quick to aim and just a handy package, but realizing my eyes are not what the were in the past.

As long as whatever you put on top of it doesn't hang over the muzzle I don't see why not. 8)

This Bisley has a 6" barrel, but even with 1-3/8" less it would be at home with either sight, and the Weigand base. The little reflex takes some getting used to, but it carries so nice.

I think this one would have you beat on the shortness aspect  No it's not mine...

Ive been considering scoping my 5" 44 mag...

3/8" shouldnt make much difference in my opinion.

Check out Weigand Combat for a scope base. $30

I really recommend the 30mm Tube, UltraDot 30 for a handgun scope. It has a 4 MOA Dot at 100 yards, 2 MOA Dot at 50 Yards, and a 1 MOA Dot at 25 yards.

Another Option would be the new 6 Series MatchDot II. It has Multiple Dot Sizes from 2 MOA to 8 MAO at 100 yards. The 2 MOA at 100 yards, is 1 MOA at 50 Yards, and .50 MOA at 25 yards. I have not tryed a MatchDot II so far but I think one is on my list of things to get next year for one of my 480 Ruger Super RedHawk's to replace an UltraDot 25 (1") I still have mounted on my spare revolver.

The UltraDot Optical sights are made in Japan, and are a quality product.

Heather and Mike will take care of you.
