Found an old 3 screw today for under $300. Some holster wear but everything is tight on the pistol and overall it's in very good shape. Serial #405xxx Can some one help feel me what year pistol I have? I have searched around but nothing definite. Has an aluminum frame XR3-RED. Will try to get better pics later.

Thanks, it didn't have a box but it came with the holster it had been carried in that caused the wear.

It was sold originally with two cylinders. One is for 22 LR & the other 22 mag. I figured since it was a shooter,, that it's extra cylinder, box, papers etc were long gone.

I did not think all SS's sold in that time period had two cylinders?

They didn't but more than one person here knows how to tell from the serial number. The other cylinder will only set you back another $125 so it's not that big of a deal. We need pics of the holster too!

Just had a long rifle cylinder. I was thinking that only Super Single six's came with a magnum cylinder. Will try to get a pic of the holster tomorrow. It is a Viking 68 with floral carving. Looking at it, you can see the wear spots on the inside of it match up exactly with the pistol.

The 5-1/2" with fixed sights like you have there was sold as a convertible or as a LR only. The LR only is definitely the lesser common of the two. But regardless of how yours left, still looks like a shooter.

I like it, it has alot of character. Nothing wrong with honest wear from use, as oposed to flat out abuse. How does it shoot? Ed

It was an adjustable rear sight that made a Single Six Super.....

Thank you sir. It shoots surprisingly well. I'm more than pleased with it.

Going looking for a Single Ten tomorrow.

This is the holster that came with it. Struck out on my search for a single ten. Did find 2 single nines and 2 of the single six hunter models though.
