So. Florida
I think they call this a Mexican Stand-Off. Florida isn't going anywhere and that storm doesn't want to move. Meanwhile the Northern Bahamas is getting demolished. 185 mph winds Cat 5 are you kidding me? We have been boarded up since Saturday and just waiting. I am stir crazy. I am enjoying electricity now ,cooking, laundry, etc. because I know what is like when it goes out. Waiting for that turn to the north. Good luck and best wishes for anyone in the path of the eye.

yes, our thoughts and prayers are with ALL of you down in that part of the country, I know many years ago, my folks lived on Marco island, near Naples an they were always "lucky" being on the gulf side, my aunts lives up along the Atlantic coast and they always got "Hammered" I was surprised after so many times they were even able to get insurance???? ALas they are all GONE now,,,,,,,,, :(
MY sister and family are still interior of South Carolina, and at least on the "high ground".......BUT.............
stay safe and take care..........good luck???

While I live in the mountains of WNC,, where hurricanes aren't usually a big issue,, I can say I have seen their power. I was in the Fl. Keys as hurricane Andrew headed to Fl. I shortened my trip by a day & beat it home. Missed all of it. But when I went back a month later,, I saw all the destruction.

Hugo hit us more inland and in Charlotte NC,, my brother got roof damage.

Hurricanes,, NO THANKS!

So,, for ALL of our fine Ruger Forum friends & members,, PLEASE stay safe, & our thoughts & prayers will be with y'all.

It is now 10:12 on Monday as I type this. I just read that the storm was moving across the Bahamas at 1 mph. That is more than scary. I pray for those that have nowhere to hide from this.
One of my best friends lives near Myrtle Beach. They have been given mandatory evac orders. Starting later today the major roads will be one way . . .away from the coast.

Prayers for all those that are affected and will be affected.

I have lived on the Gulf Coast all my life. We have endured several bad hurricanes.

Camille 1969, eye was 60 miles away but took out over 30 pine trees in our yard
Frederic 1979, a really bad direct hit, without power for a week, major damage to our house
Danny 1997, dropped 36" of rain on us
George 1998, dropped 15" of rain on us
Ivan 2004, a direct hit with major damage to the Alabama coast
Katrina 2005, for us not as bad as Ivan
and many near misses.

The worse thing for a big storm like that is to move slowly. It looks like the coast of Florida up to the Carolinas may take a hit. Good luck.

Hanging in there Jimbo?
Thought of you just now when news report says it's downgraded to Cat4 which still sounds horrible!

We'll keep good thoughts and prayers for you all down there.

My daughter, grand daughters and great grandson all just moved to Mount Pleasant South Carolina this year. I see on the map they all live about a half mile to two miles inland. (Two places) We are praying for them.

I hope you are okay Jimbo. Didn't you used to be in California?
Seems like every year a Hurricane comes along and hits the east coast somewhere... you'd think the government could do something about this.

Born and raised in So Florida. ...and yeah, with as many miles of coastline as we have it does seem like Florida gets hit by at least one hurricane every year.

Sometime during a last hurricane, one of the meteorologist’s was “out in it”. One of the anchors mentioned us changing the hurricane patterns- the answer was rich! “ You can’t change the weather”!
