This 44 SPL ammo work for white tail deer ?

Underwood 255 Gr. Keith Type Semi Wadcutter , Underwood states 1000 FPS , 566 Energy , just ordered a 44 spl Ruger 5.5 inch from Buds , mostly intend to use for fun , plinking, etc. but, thought i might carry it some at deer season , Thanks .

Should work fine, that is my standard 45 colt load, mine is the same weight but a little bigger around.

Millions of Deer have fallen to lesser rounds. Example = .44-40 , .38-40 , 200 -180 gr. Bullets at BP velocitys. I would not feel undergunned with your load in a .44 Sp.
and at reasonable distances. Practice enough to keep all shots in the zone and you are good to go.

While I had my S&W 624, I killed deer with WW 200 grain Silvertips, PMC 240 plated lead, and 245 grain lead SWC. The lead bullets punched big holes in and out while the Sivertips went in, expanded seriously, and stopped.
Most any 44 bullet will kill a deer--it's the range that is restricted by the lower velocities.
