I used the windshield of my ‘97 Suburban to murder dozens of flying insects in Northern New Mexico yesterday. In February!
I know the feeling. Love to mow, so relaxing to me. Already got some new blades/filter/oil/filter and air filter for my mower, but waiting on a spark plug tester to see how well the spark is on the plugs. It's for an old 1990 ONAN motor and I think the spark gap is a bit off, so I want to test the plugs before the spring first mow.
As you can see this mower is a brute and a true commercial mower as it has 21 grease zerks, about 10-12' long, weighs somewhere around 1200-1500#s. So, having it go down is not a simple push by yourself job. The mower behind it is my '03 Craftsman GT5000 garden tractor. I also have a running 1967 model 102 Cub Cadet that I've kept as original as possible. I like mowers.

Yeah, a week ago it was -2. Yesterday and today +61. Not complaining just hanging onto the roller coaster LOL.

Mid 70's here today. A few days ago, it was 15
55 degrees today with lows in the mid thirties for a week. Mid-sixties next week. The tremendous rain has just ended for at least a few days.. The grass is growing, and I also look forward to mowing when it dries out and making my yard look good.
Walking is often painful to me, so I also use a riding mower for a good portion of my yard. My rider was 900-bucks 15 years ago, and I'd like a new one. A similar mower now is 2000-bucks and more.
I guess I'll just keep on fixing this one and shooting in the starter fluid.

As long as you don't wear an aero helmet and spandex shorts while mowing, I'm good with it.

Oh, this is just too cool. I'm copying this photo for use elsewhere. What is not to like? Best cut your lawn will ever have, an exercise bike, only thing I would change is go with a current mountain bike with big tires and suspension. Million dollar idea 41Dude!

Each year HD and Walmart stock there Spring plants early....and we have one final freeze and they lose all the succulents....oh well ..this year same same.

It made 70 here today everything is growing fast
Built our house in 1996 and I mow about an acre. Started out with a John Deere garden tractor with a 54 inch deck and a 48 inch blade for snow. Got tired switching the deck and the blade and in 2007 bought a John Deere commercial grade zero-turn. That thing is much faster and built heavy enough to stand running on fairly rough ground. I had visions of just relaxing and mowing, maybe even having a beer in the holder beside me. Sometimes its like that but we're in the wide open, not a lot of trees and in Iowa we can have a lot of wind. Sometimes I swear I got more grass on me than I'm mowing. Get pretty tired of getting grass in my nose and eyes. Lol
All that is, is a good way for me to fall off and get run over by my own lawn mower. I'm not sure how I would manage it but I'm sure I could.
First new lawn mower I ever got was in 2005, my wife bought me a 46" Cub Cadet. So far it's still running good. I am not easy on it either. If I can get to it I will try to cut it, mainly because I don't have a bush hog. But I don't have a well manicured yard either...lol

I have to mow my acre and a quarter weekly from mid-March through November. I only had to mow once each month in December and January but now I’m back to twice in February… I have a 54” cut Husqvarna tractor so it only takes about an hour and 45 minutes start to finish. The real pain in my butt is edging and weed-eating around the fence lines and all the landscaping my wife insisted on, then keeping the weeds down in said landscaping… that’s another two to six hours a week…

Would take 20 minutes on a zero turn RADIUS mower ("zero turn" is a pet peeve, a mower that doesn't turn is useless). My dad went from a 54" rider to a ZTR and cut his mowing time from a full day to a couple hours. I mowed little league baseball fields (4) every other day of the mowing season and could complete all four in an hour if they just needed a maintenance cut. Once per week I would go slower and make the patterns proper and aim the chips appropriately.

Hit mid 80's here in Sparks, NV today. Same tomorrow on Saturday. Due to the oxygen cords, I cannot mow the lawn, nor weed whack, but I am lucky to have such wonderful neighbors who will be doing some landscaping for me. I turn 81 at the end of the month.
When we first bought our castle in '88, purchased a Toro lawn Mower that had a Briggs & Stratton, advertised as starting up on the first pull of the cord. Still does. I only used to mow twice year.

Since my last post, the engine died on the older of two (B&S) mowers. It has 15 PSI compression and was burning oil. Might put an oversized piston and rings in it if parts are available. No issues with the Honda engine on my other mower.

I have been mowing for nearly two months at least once but usually 2-4 times a week. Mowed the front Friday and will again today before adding 13-13-13 on my schedule and Metsulfuron Methyl diluted with a sufactant. Crabgrass and Dallisgrass was much lower this spring, possibly due to care in the fall or maybe seasonal. The Bahia and rescuegrass is terrible this year. I put Stonewall down in August as directed and used a mixture or Image and Celsius HG with a surfactant this spring but they still nag me. Not worried about Poa Annua as it gets choked out once the Texas heat gets here ... next week a high of 100 on Wednesday. My kid "forgot" to cut the back yesterday so he can double pass it today.
We've been getting a ton of rain. Almost every weekend. I work M-F so don't have the chance to mow like I should. Last week I had no choice and mowed in the rain. What a mess. Thats only the second time I was able to get out. Yesterday was beautiful but had a ton of other errands to run in morning and yesterday started "May Madness" the NCAA Lacrosse Tournament. Games from Noon to 730pm. Same for today. I know, responsibilities should take priority.....getting ready to make the Wife her Mothers day breakfast. When done I will try to get at least the front done. Seabee Son is home for Moms Day so maybe I can talk him into weed whacking for the old man.....my property has a ton, and I'm not very stable anymore
