No not a hearing aid, the one that's attached to your head that's flesh and blood.
When I was a kid every once in a while I'd see my mom grab her earlobe momentarily and I just ignored it thinking it was due to an itch or some such. Then one day I burned my finger and my mom told me that her mom said that if you burn your finger to immediately grab your earlobe and the lobe will literally absorb the heat and it won't hurt.
To illustrate her point she said to touch a hot pot handle with a finger until it became uncomfortable and immediately grab my earlobe to see what happens, I did and she was 100% right, the heat was immediately pulled from my finger and absorbed by the lobe. Since then, over the years I've done this automatically and I've not injured a finger.
Now I'm not saying that if you roast a finger on a red hot coal you won't get burned because you will but try this when you touch something like a hot pot or soldering iron!
