I recently bought a 7-1/2" SRH to hunt with. It was made in 1989. Can someone tell me, or show me, what the original 1989 box/case looked like? Cardboard, plastic?? I have the original manual but not the box and thought it would be nice to have to have the correct box if I can find one. In 1989 did they put labels on the box?
.
If someone is interested, I also have what I think is a 1st issue SRH manual (dated 7/87) on which the original owner noted the serial number of his 9-1/2" SRH (550-03900). I have no use for this manual, other than it's really neat to have a copy of the first issue, and I'd trade it for a box if the situation arose.
.
Thanks for your time and look forward to your expert feedback,
Mike

should be a LONG yellow and black , one piece ,fold up box, and the end label is yellow with reddish/orange lettering having the catalog number KSRH-7 (9 for the 91/2 incher) on it...on the bottom of the box will be a bunch of copyright/patent numbers in black and the date of this is February 1987...this box came inside a cardboard shipper that also had the data /info stamped on the end flap...........

hey, never say never, only way to know for certain is when one gets the ACTUAL "ship date" then that determines if something left "later' in maybe a newer packaging, ala the grey plastic boxes, there are always 'transitions' and over /under serial number ranges...same holds true for ANY gun maker, especially S&W and Colt...............in fact we got an OLD Army box today that had 3 "paste over" stickers, for Super Single Six 9 1/2 inch,as well as Super Blackhawk, all old models...and the person "mutilated" the end flap trying to remove each one..................saw an "old model" Super Blackhawk in a "new model" red/white box, and it has an "old model" white end label pasted over it, as well as the "old model" shipper???? packaging will drive one "nutz" as the factory wasn;t trying to do anything 'fancy' or "trick", only want to ship out their product........and they did NOT 'throw anything away".......

VA-Gramps - I am 95% sure I have a long yellow & black one-piece box, as rugerguy describes, for a 7.5" 44 mag SRH. Email me (bigbore45colt @ ptd DOT net) or PM me on the forum if you are interested in it and we can discuss off line.
