Box sold on ebay

So, I have questions.....

Isn't the "OM Conversion" paperwork "wrong" for a box that old? Seems out of place for a 4 digit.

I think @twriggen has one of the blued lightweights with the brass showing through.

If the gun was sent back to be converted this would be the manual and instructions that came back with it.
It does have the original manual, discolor notice and like I said earlier "revolver" factory stamp on the warranty card. Even @twriggin does not have that, that's how hard they are to find!

I don't think I should be the standard for what is rare. While I would love to have that warranty card, I do not share Radical Rod's ability to hold my hand up until everyone else puts theirs down.

You do have one of the "brassy" blued guns though, right?

I have a well-worn All-Blue light weight that the underlying gold color is showing through on the cylinder.

Maybe the relationship to the seller should have been posted at the beginning because very very few here would know that. But the fact remains one negative out of 27 transactions (94%) is terrible on eBay. So I stand by logic and experience even if this seller is fine. I won't buy from 98% positive just for reference. Hard to understand from those that don't "do eBay" as a side job I guess. If I got hosed on feedback I would fight it and get it overturned (have before). My rating is 100% at 1223 transactions. The box is sweet and the ad is well made.

Some people have have more money than common sense. However if something is made of unobtainium then the sky is the limit.

Actually, it's EASY to get rare, unusual guns or whatever. All you have to do is put forth you are seeking,, and have the ability to pay for something when you get offers. You will get offers.
And of course,, there are the auctions.
Be the last one with your hand up,, and you will win the bidding, and get the good stuff.

That mindset will get you good stuff. As for it being common sense,, well, it truly depends upon each person. If you have the money, and you enjoy getting specific items,, why not spend the money??? It doesn't have to be guns, it can be anything?
Ever watch the Barrett-Jackson auto auctions? Or how about art auctions?
Often,, you will see something sell for what YOU may think is way over-priced. Yet,, the person buying determines the value to them!

Keep such stuff for a while, take care of it, and quite often,, it will sell when you decide to let it go for more than what you paid. Of course,, there are exceptions. But in general,, looking at Rugers,, let's consider something.
You are a kid,, you see a Single-Six,,,and want it. You save your money, you buy it. Yet,, your folks don't let you shoot it much if any. You put it away with the box & shipper. You forget about it,, and life happens. A few decades later,, you dig it out & go to sell it. You discover you have a Tri-Color Lightweight, with the rare green wreath box, and the matching shipper. You discover how rare it is & sell it for a LOT more than what you paid for it.
Similar stories happen all the time.

It's when a person thinks they can buy an item, at a high but current price,, and then flip it in a few months or even a year later for a lot more. Buying JUST to invest & hoping for a sucker will often be a disappointment.

Troy has spent a LOT of time, and effort into his collection of Ruger stuff & guns. KUDOS!!!!!!! And if he's selling something,, he has a reason, and is a great guy & very fair.

Ty,
Great post.
You nailed it.
Most of the collectors I have had the pleasure of meeting, especially the ROCS folks in Tulsa, are not doing this for money. It's the love of Rugers.
For me, it's taking care of a piece of history for a while, knowing who owned it before, and learning all I can. And the best part for me so far, is all those collectors I have met! I feel like I have made lifelong friends and these new friends have different areas of knowledge that I can tap into. They have given the opportunity to add some really nice guns to my collection, but like you said, you better have your finances in order, because when the good stuff is offered, it likely is your only chance!
I'm fortunate to be part of it.
Cheers,
Jay
