Super Bh cylinder issue

So I picked up a Sbh the other day for a steal only problem was the cylinder does not free spin when the loading gate is open. I have a regular Bh never had this problem. I thought it was just due to improper reassembly. Got home tore the whole thing apart ( i have done this before)gave it a good cleaning did notice it was missing the little spring and plunger that goes into the frame that Is held in by the grip frame so I ordered one other then that nothing looked out of place. Put it back together with the new spring and it stil does the same thing. Anyone have any clue to what is going on

Is the gate fully pressing down the latch when it is opened?

Or, dumb question, is is an OM?

It is the new model.mine has the square back trigger gaurd And the silver latch that locks the cylinder is releasing all the way it seems like it's catching on the piece that rotates the cylinder when the hammer is pulled back

Wow so after a closer look I found the problem the missing plunger is no longer missing some one put it in the screw hole and not correct hole then they tightened down the screw forcing the plunger into the back of the paw so it would not release fully

I don't understand the question..."Regular" Blackhawks don't have "free spin". The cyl rotates clockwise only when the gate is opened... :?

I think the new FTs have "free spin" but since I don't own one (yet) I can't say for sure...

I was meaning when you open the gate the cylinder wouldn't spin at all but I got fixed now

Welcome! And bravo for fixing your own gun. That's the 1st time I've heard of that issue.

Someone I know bougt a Ruger Hawkeye cheap because the rotating block couldn't be removed and the center pin wouldn't go all the way in. Brought it to me and I found that the firing pin and spring were put in the center pin hole! Once it was installed that way it wouldn't come out again!
