Life is a gift, as sweet as a ripe peach, as precious as a gilded jewel. I have never been able to understand the logic of willfully surrendering such a treasure. And what is there to gain? How dark can your existence be when compared to an eternal void? Unless, of course, you have faith that there is something beyond.
What do you see from where you stand? A bright light at the end of the tunnel? Is it a ray of hope? A glimmer of something better? Or will it burn you like the rising sun? Is that sound you're hearing the trumpeting of St. Peter's angels or the screams of Memnoch's tortured souls?
You can't answer that, can you? Because you will never know the answer, until after the deed is done. And is your faith really that strong?
I understand the need to move on. It is something that happens to us all, and your time has truly come. I also understand that with the beauty of this life, there comes pain and despair. No one is immune. But consider what you have in your hands before you give it up. Don't trade a treasure for an empty box.
Love, It warps our senses, twists our souls...can take us past hope, past cure, past help. I know about love: it's suffering, it's anguish, it's pain. Heaven makes means to kill our joy with love. And yet we must have it, at any cost. But are you so enamored that you'll overlook your love of life? And you do love it. I've seen you smell the sea, gaze at the stars at night. Are you willing to sacrifice one mistress for another? Look into your heart and tell me that you're willing to make the choice.

there was some philosopher that said the only real question in life is whether to commit suicide or not. The big issue with taking one's life is what one would leave behind.... it really effects friends and family badly.
As some of you know I've been a chimney sweep here in S.C. for over 40 years... you will find this interesting and maybe disturbing but we sweeps, especially in S.C. have a high rate of suicide... I've known of at least 3.

It's the most selfish thing a person can do.
Unless it's because of a terminal illness and you don't want to be a burden.
Maybe I shouldn't say anything? Too many variables. Each situation is different.
I always wondered were the line is?
If I take poison and die its suicide, what if I poison myself slowly? It may take years. What if I don't take my diabetes medication? Is that suicide?

Actually attempting suicide is worse than accomplishing it. If you succeed the pain for loved ones will diminish in time. All too often people try over and over again, never really intending to succeed. They just put loved ones through hell each time.

I thought I'd seen every episode of Mash but I guess not. What exactly happened in that episode. Did the guy actually die? What was wrong with him?
That is from the movie, where the dentist called the best equipped dentist in the Army feels like he isn't a man because he couldn't perform... You get the idea so he wants to commit suicide. They give him a tranquilizer to put him out and one of the nurses spends a night with him and raises the dead.

This wasn't from the TV series, but from the original movie. Here's some background on it.
In most cases it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. You are right about it destroying other people. Sorry to hear about your nephew. I have friends who lost teen relatives to suicide and in every case it was something that could have been resolved with a little help.
I was watching a MASH show the other day and wondered, if it were to start the show in this age, would they allow the opening theme to be played. I am sure someone or group would find it offensive
