SP101 adjustable sights

The SP101 with 3-inch barrel is, I believe, offered only with integral fixed rear sight. Longer barrels have the standard Ruger pattern adjustable rear sight on a differently cast top strap. And the "Wiley Clapp" version of the 2.25-inch barrel has a Novack (Spelling??) "perhaps" windage adjustable rear sight with "perhaps" windage adjustable front sight - rear sight, again, affixed to differently cast top strap.

Okay to my query.
1. Will Ruger install either their standard pattern adjustable rear sight (unlikely, I believe) or the Wiley Clapp system on a "stock" SP101 3-inch barrel?

2. If Ruger will not do such an installation, has any forum member had ANY conversion of the revolver to have installed adjustable sights?

3. Would such a conversion void the entire Ruger warranty?

4. Would such a conversion cause Ruger to no longer repair a problem with the revolver in "X" number of years down the road?

5. If the warranty becomes void, would the revolver continue to be repaired/maintained by a competent gunsmith "X" number of years down the road?

I doubt Ruger would modify the gun to a different configuration. It would entail some work that they are not equipped to do as they do not have a custom gun shop unlike S&W. Also, in order to use the Ruger sight one would need to build up some "ears" near the front of the strap so the pivot pin for the sight could be installed. A gunsmith would probably use a S&W adjustable sight as it is far easier to install as one would not need the ears but only some milling and tapping of the top strap. I cannot answer the warranty questions. I doubt the warranty not being in effect would impact a gunsmith repairing/maintaining the gun. However, some parts are only available for factory installation unless acquired on the second hand market so that could affect repairs.

I would think installing the Novak sight could be done by a gunsmith. I think they also have an adjustable Novak rear sight out. If one were a stickler for details the existing rear sight channel would need to be filled in beforehand before cutting the dovetail slot for the Novak.

Ruger has no warranty really. They do fix there products though.

I suggest if you want a short barreled SP with adjustable sight, you sell your current gun and buy the new model. Then you could have the barrel cut down to the length you like. This seems the cheaper solution to me.

I agree with Royalt. A barrel cut and crown should run around $100 or so. The welding and building up the ears probably would run around $300. Using a S&W sight would probably run $225 or so. AND one would need a new, taller front sight made to work with the rear. That could be another $60-100 depending upon type.
