Songs about food

Help Support Ruger Forum:

Brown Sugar is about Slave women in the 1800s
Gold Coast slave ship bound for cotton fields
Sold in the market down in New Orleans
Scarred old slaver know he's doin' alright
Hear him whip the women, just around midnight
Brown sugar, how come you taste so good?
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should, oh, whoo
Drums beatin' cold, English blood runs hot
Lady of the house wonderin' when it's gonna stop
House boy knows that he's doin' alright
You should have heard him, just around midnight
Brown sugar, how come you taste so good?
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should, yeah
Oh, get it on, brown sugar, how come you taste so good, baby?
Oh, got me thinkin' about, the brown sugar
Just like a black girl should, yeah
Now, I bet your mama was a tent show queen
And all her boyfriends were sweet 16
I'm no school boy, but I know what I like
You should have heard me, just around midnight
Brown sugar, how come you taste so good, baby?
Oh, no, no, brown sugar, just like a young girl should, yeah
I said, yeah, yeah, yeah, whoo!
How come you, how come you taste so good?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, whoo!
Just like a, just like a black girl should
Yeah, yeah, yeah, whoo!

Yep that's the lyrics. One of the top songs of the 70's. Seems like some folks are acting like the morals squad here lately. Don't do this, don't do that, telling everyone what to say and how to say it. It's starting to sound like an old time tent revival. Sorry for the rant, but we suddenly have fostered some real control freaks. Despite the 'family forum" claims that are popping up more and more, it appears that the majority here are adults. (At least as far as age is the consideration) Don't know that I've ever seen a kid posting on the forum and the few women who post on here present themselves as mature and intelligent.

To those who know me,, I'm no prude.
Far from it.

And I've been around here quite a long time,, and I can recall when FlatGate was alive & running things,, we ALL kept the Forum "family friendly." Otherwise you'd get a friendly reminder from him to clean things up. Or,, he'd delete a post or an entire thread if necessary.
Usually it wasn't necessary.

Many of the songs listed above,, I've heard,, and many I have NOT heard.

My simple post about keeping it clean was to try & maintain a family friendly Forum. We have (mostly) adults here,, but we also have people with strong religious convictions,, (Bob Wright quickly comes to mind) as well as others who may not appreciate where some comments of such may go.

If we allow this Forum to degenerate like so many others have,, we'll quietly lose good people & we'll never know why. They will just simply quit posting.

I have close family members who state they have never heard me cuss. But I promise you,, I can make a sailor blush. I just CHOOSE to act like a gentleman should around the ladies. And I CHOOSE to try & treat this fine Forum as if I were going to share it with my mother or other ladies who might get offended at some things.

My simple comment about keeping it clean was just trying to put forth a gentle thought out of respect for others.

Oh,, and just in case some may not see it. In the "Lounge Title" it says;

"This Area is for Relaxing and Discussing Issues for Any Subject on Your Mind So Long as it is in Good Taste."

FlatGate (unless I'm mistaken) had that put in.

Just this guys opinion like you have yours and we all do. I certainly didn't see anything that crossed over the line of decency here. There were those in the news not long ago who wanted to ban the 50's song Baby it's cold outside because they thought it offensive. I sure dont want this site to go to extremes like that because one or two might overreact to something pretty innocuous. Obviously, not a mod here but that's my take on it.
