Does a single six in 22RF have the same bore size as a single six chambered for 22 magnum? I have heard a couple of guys who say their single sixes with both cylinders they were not as accurate as one chambered for 22RF only due to larger bore. :?:

According to Ruger and others they use the same barrels on both.

There is so much variance in the accuracy of every individual 22 handgun or rifle, that not using the brand or type of ammo the gun happens to like can make a big diffrence in accuracy.

That said, every one of my convertible guns shoots better with 22 magnum ammo than with the 22lr I shoot in it. That may change if I really worked at finding a more accurate 22lr round. I have not done that and just shoot the bulk ammo in 22 lr.

Ruger came out with the Single-Six chambered for the Win. Rim. Fire Mag. in 1959. Sometime after that they said that they would fit a Mag. cylinder to any Single-Six after serial number 150,000. So it looks as if the Single-Six made before serial number 150,000 has a smaller bore. After serial number 150,000 they should all have the larger bore. Not sure what the bore measures but I'm sure someone will know and post.
