Just wondering when Ruger started putting the warning label under the barrel?

Also, what was the last year without the warning label?

Cant say I know the answer, but I first noticed it on a 2009 purchase

Welcome to the Forum!
I believe the switch started in 2007-2008 if my faded memory is working. All models didn't get the switch at the same time but it was worked in over a time period.
As for when they started adding the warning,, I believe it was around 1977.

It's about time they moved that UGLY stamp!
I simply love my 6 1/2 Single Six but I absolutelly hate having all that stamping ruin the lines of the gracefull revolver.
I mean I'd never part with my Single Six (It's my "pet Gun") just cause of the stamp but I still wish it was below the barrel like the new ones.

Do you work on your guns? Easiest thing is sanding off the warning, especiall if it's stainless. Bued guns can be reblued with ox-Pho Blue from Brownell's. Looks like factory finish when done. Just don't buff the barrel where the warning was. Match the factory grit finsh with sand paper used like a shoeshine rag.

Hah, I just set the guns down so the warning statement is on the back side.

I bought a 5 1/2" barreled SS in January 2009 so it was probably made in 2008. The idiot label is on the bottom, thankfully.
