Hey guys, which combination of rings comes standard with a Ruger 1-A? Will a Leupold 3.5-10x40 fit with no clearance issues? What about a Leupold 3.5-10x50? If the standard 50 won't fit, will the 3.5-10x 50 L series fit? Thanks in advance for your help. I have a line on a 1-A in .257 Roberts with gorgeous wood and I want to make sure I set it up right!

NYC, Ruger will swap the rings that came with the rifle, if they are still new in the original package. Took me about 10 days turn around on my last exchange (including Labor Day week end). All it costs you is shipping to Ruger. They foot the bill on return shipping. I did not realize this on my previous purchase and went ahead and mounted high rings on a rifle that could have likely used lows and for sure mediums. Good luck, jack

All #1s seem to come with size 5 rings, which are high 1 inch. #4 (medium) are plenty tall for that scope. 33 to 36 mm bell scopes will even work with #3 low rings. They also have 30mm rings if you want a larger tubed scope. I have put leupold Euro 30s on several of mine. Love them in low light conditions. I think the customer service dept has a fit chart if you need to call them and ask about a specific scope/rifle combo.
You will love that Bob. Very nice caliber, in a great rifle. I hope you handload. Makes it even more fun!

Seems like an awful lot of scope on a "A". Not sure what and where you hunt but most of us seem to run light compact scopes on the "A" variation of the #1.

Do you own other #1s? You might run into eye relief problems and if you need offset rings to get the eye relief correct the only factory offset rings are mediums. which might not get you clearance for the forward ocular bell and the rib.

Just a thought
