AR-15 Sling question:

If the Colt is old school it will have sling loops. See articrugers post 18 in this thread.
If it is new school you can install the mount on the buffer tube for a single point sling. Same for the Daniels Defense rifles. Check for QD holes or Mlock slots to use to use 2 point sling.

The mini 14’s have sling swivels from the factory. Assuming they really are factory folders, they were made by Samson. Rear swivel at the hinge, front swivel at the gas block. If the sling swivels were removed there will still be the bases present. The bases look like the old style swivel studs on a hunting rifle. Drill them out for the old style Uncle Mikes swivels.
If the stocks are aftermarket, I would google. “XYZ mini 14 stock sling mount”. Same for the AR STOCKS.

The amazing thing is I have severe AR-15's as well as two pistol caliber carbines and some of these have that mystery hole that is for a quick connection and I never knew about these....now I'm all into ordering the connectors for these to attach to a sling.... there is so much stuff out there even at my age I still have yet to know.

If your stocks are magpul there may be empty holes molded into the plastic. You have to buy the metal QD Socket inserts separately.
Type 1 kit can be mounted on either side,

Then there is a kit from Grove Tec to mount a QD socket into a hollow stock after you drill a hole. These are what I used on my shotgun.

The slots in the handguard are called MLOCK. You buy accessories that lock into those slots. I learned about MLOCK when my son bought a bypod. This is the MLOCK mount for a QD swivel.

Between Magpul and GroveTec, they have everything you will need. GroveTec has more unique adapters.

Since this came back up I have to admit I have no need to carry this rifle just wanted a sling for it... I also explained in my post in a different thread titled my $1300 yeti mug why I bought the sling I did.... two reasons... one, I already had two on my pistol caliber carbines and the other is the company offered one in the same color as the grip and stock of this new AR... also the sling is made here in the U.S.A.

I have to bring this up.... I watched about 90% of the video eviled posted a link to from Magpul.... I need to book mark that and show the first minute or two to anyone who knows nothing or little about our current gun industry .... point being, how can putting a sling on a rifle be so complicated with so many choices and options....

I have to bring this up also... the mug is now around $1400.... I realized I needed some more magazines since I now have either 3 or 4 ARs.... need to go look again.... I had a couple Mag Pulls and they are supposed to be among the best and so I went to their sight... ended up ordering 20 rounders, I guess I'm a left leaning wimp.... (actually sort of true and some of you know it) ... I really like the feel and look of the 20 rounders better than the 30's.

I'm about as not left as they come but I like 20's. They're a better length for positions shooting.

“And slings are good for better control while shooting”- Read this again!! While I was in the Army my M16(A1 or A2) wore the good old black nylon “strap” sling. I kept the loop long, and carried the weapon slung buttstock side up across my back. If I needed it quickly I could shrug and swing it under my strong side arm, twist it up into the ready position with the strap twisted around my weak side (forward) hand for stability in about 3/4 of a second. My two ARs, and both my Mini-14 and Mini-30 are still similarly equipped. I acquired the slings and buckles on the surplus market for a whopping $6 each.
