I am not sure if this is where i should post this but i find it urgent. If he went after me chances are he replied to multiple people on this forum.

A man named James contacted me saying he has an old model Blackhawk for sale. He told me to email him so i did. I just asked for pictures and when he sent them they were of a new model not old. And instead of .357 it was a .41. I told him i was looking for an old model and was not interested then he switched his story saying he had an old model as well. Hmm how convenient! So i asked for pictures of it and when he sent them it was also not a .357 like i asked for. And it was basically in new condition, his price? $350 Shipped for a like new old model Blackhawk with box...

I google image searched the pictures and it brought me to a gun auction site that ended in 2013. So that's confirmation that he stole those pictures. Overall he had a scammer vibe, he wouldn't show me any feedback and wouldn't allow for me to take delivery of the gun first. And he only would accept a money order as a payment. He always replied back very fast and i could tell he was rushing me to send him the money. He did't tell me anything actually about the guns each reply was just trying to get me to send him money.

I basically knew he was a scammer since the start so i started asking dumb questions just to be sure. I asked if he would do both the guns for $450 Shipped, he said yes. 'Both are basically in new condition in the pictures'. I then asked him if the new model is an "8 capacity" He said yes...

Be aware people! He probably selected me because i'm new here and he thought i'd be less aware and an easy target. Unluckily for him i'm quite tech savvy. His username is "gunkk" i have more information but i'm not sure if i'm allowed to disclose it. Now James if you are not a scammer reply to this and let us all know how you can explain yourself. 'he has 0 posts by the way'. I wish you weren't a scammer i'd take those 2 blackhawks off you in a blink of the eye

He just sent me his address and name expecting a $450 money order HAHA, And his name isn't James anymore i guess, because his mailing address says his name is "Balwant"... Are scammers here often? My first post attracted one.

I have his:
email
full real name
full address
phone number
and with a little googling even some pictures.

Let me know if you are having someone sketchy messaging you and we can cross reference info.

I had two scam responses to my WTB request for a Savage 330 20 guage here and three on www.gunboards.com. They are usually pretty easy to penetrate because these guys don't really know much about guns, gun buying, or pricing. The pix they send are usually pretty easy to find, often stock factory photos or from the most recent for sale ad on the net for more-or-less the right gun that anybody could find with a Google search.

I hate thieves. But what I really resent is their imposing their frauds on a community that really lives on trust. Without it, we aren't US.

One thing I like about certain "Classfieds" forums like the ones on www.calguns.net and wwww.gunboards.com is that they have a rating system for buyers and sellers that you can search for "references" good or bad. Helps a lot.

Sorry you got picked, but glad you avoided it. There's so many scam artists on the net that I never buy a gun on-line. Don't buy many anyway, but when I do it's always ftf with someone I know, or a local shop.

He just messaged me about a Bark River Rogue bowie knife. I had posted a add wanting one a while back with a black ebony or micarta handle.

Hey guys he contacted me about a WTB ad for grips I posted a couple of days ago. Thanks for the heads up!! I did e-mail him but "James Honeycutt" never replied.

Sad to say that there are people like that out there.

jmar,

Good catch and good post!

You can shut down scammers real quick by telling them to take the gun to their FFl, and supply the name of that dealer that will be shipping the gun. And you'll send the money order once the FFL confirms the gun is entered on their books.

You'll never hear from the scammer again.

I won't deal with Anyone here that doesn't have A decent amount of posts and a registration date going back some months. Its unlikely a scammer would know Rugers well, use good english and wait say 6 months to scam his first member here.

Seems like he tried to press his luck and reply to just about all WTB ads, i'm glad he didn't get anyone. He isn't too bright because he gave me an actual street address and name so i used it against him and said if he gets caught again i'm reporting him to the police.

Thanks for posting this, I just saw it. He replied to my WTB ad as J Honeycutt also.

Since he is using the same email, maybe you should sign him up for some email notifications.

The scammer, a.k.a "james honeycutt", a.k.a. "gunkk" (rugerforum handle) just sent me an email showing me the blue bisley hammer he wants to sell me. A google image search led me this this post:

http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=202007

The idiot is even using recycled pics from Rugerforum to try and scam us! what an idiot! The bisley hammer in the recycled pics is stainless and modified to fit an XR3. I replied telling him he needs to better learn the subject matter in order to become a better crook.

Okay since ol' Balwant is still up to his old scammer ways i'm going to release his info so everyone know's whos trying to steal hundreds of dollars from them.

Balwant Achaibar
Jersey USA 08045

Don't think i can share the rest but he has a very uncommon name so if you google him all his info comes up including his phone number, address, and even pictures. He's a handsome fella

Well.... for the longest time AOL and GMAIL were shut off. You couldn't register with one of those emails. This is one of the reasons why.

But... we got people complaining they couldn't register or change their email because of it.
So they were turned back on.

Now here we are, full circle. Ya can't have it both ways. :(

There are many, MANY scammers here & on other forums

Like all have said:

Broken to little English
Can't supply pics or incorrect IF they do
Things don't make sense, they don't understand the item
Price offered is usually well under so you are very enticed to deal with them
ALWAYS seems to be a newbie with 0-10 posts

Be aware that first year '49 Ruger autos in mint condition in box are not $700.00
Mint first year Flatgate with box - $450.00

BE AWARE - NEVER ASSUME ALL IS OK

You said you "google image searched the pictures". That's a new one on me, how you do it?

It's basically the same as googling something, but it just searches an image to see if has been used online before. To do it just google "google image search" Find the page that says "Google Images" Click it then just drag in your picture straight from your computer or use the upload button. On some browsers you can just right click on the image and instantly search it!

Here is the link. https://images.google.com/

It's very good for research or to sniff out scammers and phonies. A good application for it is if you see a neat picture somewhere with no info, you can search it and possibly come up with some.

Thank you, gentlemen! I received a message offering me a stock I was looking for. Good to have the heads up!
