Ok. I have looked and searched and don't have an answer so it's dumb question time. Does the SBH hunter model use a different gripframe than other Rugers? A friend has one and gets his finger whacked by spunky loads. I suggested Hogues and lonaed him a set to try for fit. He was unable to get teh hogues on the SBHH.

We are looking at replacing the gripframe so he can get grips that don't beat him up. With iron sights this gun is scary accurate so it is worth the trobuble.

thanks for tolerating the dumb question.

For MANY of us Ruger shooters the Hunter grip frame is the HOLY GRAIL of grips.

Others put their faith in the Ruger Bisley style. It's all in the personal preference of what "WORKS FOR YOU".

JMHO,

flatgate

PS Has your friend experimented with various "holds"?

The problem is he is probably trying to get all 3 fingers on the Grip and the Super/ Hunter Gripframe is only ~1/4" longer... really not enough to add the third finger. Lower the grip and tuck the little finger like most do on a standard GF. Lot's of room.

OR

go ahead and change out the GF to a Standard XR3-RED or Super Blackhawk Dragoon and throw a set of Hogue Rubber Buggy Baby Bumpers on.

OR

Buy the Hogue's for the Super Blackhawk, they just end up with a little space where the difference of the trigger gaurds, Square vs Rounded off. They still work.

I am a die hard Bislyfile but not him. If he holds with pinky under the grip he is ok but he forgets and gets smacked. He is worried about developing a flinch. Two weeks ago we were hitting 1/2 gallon jugs at 100 yards with iron sights from a sitting position so the gun is a keeper.

Will a standard blackhawk or super grip frame bolt on to the hunters?

Um, the Super grip frame is identical to the Hunter grip frame except for the rear of the trigger guard. No sense changing it out unless he thinks the squareback guard is going to help in some way.

A standard Blackhawk grip frame might help, but somehow I sort of doubt it. He may simply need to concentrate on his grip while shooting, not a bad suggestion for anyone really.
