I have about 100 total rounds down range since I got it. This was a 100 yard 5 round group off the hood of my truck with the ammunition shown. Scope set at 6x. I think this rifle is a keeper.

Just out of curiosity, if you went with a traditional scope, and had to remove the rear peep sight, do you think there is enough thickness in the stock to bore out a storage space under the recoil pad?

So, the storage compartment would be used to store the rear sight, screw and a allen wrench to tighten it down? Yes, I think that would be possible.

:lol:Of course with your variable powered scout scope there isn't much reason for the traditional scope. How is the field of view at 2.5x and 8x on your scope?

I agree blume357, 1 or 2 clicks to the left is in order. Will do that next time out. As far as magnification on the scope goes, at 2x I have a wide field of vision and this is best for rapid closer shots. Of course, as I increase the magnification, my field of vision become more constricted. At 6x I can see fairly well around the target area and focus is still good. When I advance to 7x and 8x field of vision is greatly reduced and slightly out of focus. The scope has a focus lens adjustment but it is covered with the lens covers in place. To get a crisp clear sight picture I need about a 1/4 turn to focus it. So, I have be limiting my magnification to between 2x and 6x. I have be getting solid hits on 9 inch steal plates at 200 and 300 yards.

I really like mine. When I head out to my shooting area, my Scout rifle just seems to find it's way into the truck. It is a handy rifle that has many uses. I am still shooting it and playing with the scope in order to determine scope settings and how to apply the BDC reticle at longer ranges.

That is why low power long eye relief scopes are used. To cut down on parallax however it dose not alway work.
Most of the time a scout rifle shooter must obtain a very good cheek before every shot. Keeping both eyes open look straight down the tube.
Ruger has made "Scout Rifles" the current favorite. However the concept has been around for a long time and had many manifestations.
I have seen a few U-Tube demonstrations of young men improperly manipulating the bolt with their hand griping the bolt handle. I wonder if they seasoned he barrel. One claimed he had fired a five hundred [500] steel cased rounds since purchase.
So in time stories will evolve that the GSR is a POS with rough chambers, barrels that cannot be cleaned, receivers and bolt stems of 'soft' metal due to premature ware. All preventable with user training.
That is how it will be with the scopes. The best scopes cost half as much as the rifle. Then there are the quick release rings or do you want to co-whiteness the iron sights? Now the hi-cap rifle become work. The scopes require a higher degree of marksmanship training. That means slowing down to go faster. So why is this M-14 magazine on the rifle? The uneducated want to shoot as fast as the gun will go.
The scout rifle concept is that it dose nothing particularly well. I predict once the fervor fades. One can be picked up for about the price of a good scope. Choose carefully you do not know how it was used or misused or why is was on the trade in rack to begin with.

I think that I will delete the lens covers. They are big and bulky and I have not found them that useful.
I have not been shooting mine rifle in a rapid fire manner. I think the longest string I have fired in a row is 5 rounds of slow fire with at least a minute between shots. I bought the 5 round mag and it is really the only one I have used.
Now that I have a good zero, I want to start working on shooting off hand at targets within 100 yards.
Soon it will be cooling off and I want to take it along on a coyote hunt.
