Can someone tell me, is the Ruger P95DC model a Semi-Automatic or solely a Double Action Handgun?

And what is the price value of a Pre-owned P95DC in overall Excellent Condition. With 2 magazines.

THANKS

P95DC (or P95PDR) is kind of a mixture... The initial shot is DA, but once the shot is fired, the slide cycles and the next, and subsequent shots are SA. If, at any time the system cycles after a shot (and is now cocked for the next round) the Decocking Lever is used, the next round is fired via DA (since the hammer has been sent forward during the activation of the decocking lever).

The P95DC does not have a safety, per se, but instead relies on the decocking system to render the firearm in a safe(er) mode requiring a DA pull to fire; however, at any time, the hammer can be pulled back (cocked) and the weapon fired in an SA mode. Knowing Ruger, there also is probably some sort of interlock, etc. to prevent the firing pin from accidentally contacting round when decocked, but of that I'm not sure. Wait a bit and someone with a whole lot more knowledge will pop in and give you all the information you need!

Does that make sense? I'm not so sure I explained it properly...

The Reader's Digest version answer to your first question is "no, it's not DAO." Sorry about my keyboard throwing up...

Your question is a conflict of terms...

Semi-automatic refers to a firearm that fires one round with each pull of the trigger, while automatically loading the next round in the magazine.

The P95DC is a semi-automatic.

Double Action Only (DAO) refers to a firearm whose trigger does double duty of both cocking and releasing the hammer for every trigger pull.

The P95Dc is NOT Doubel Action Only.

As described above, the P95DC is what it commonly called a Traditional Double Action (TDA), whose trigger can perform a double action pull (starting with the hammer down), or a single action pull (stating with the hammer cocked).

The P95DC has a de-cocker only, that safely drops the hammer, and changes the trigger pull from single action to double action.

Used P95DCs generally sell for less than $300 in my area.

Brand New in the box KP95PRs sell for $320 here.

9X19 said it perfectly. And, you likely won't regret buying one.

Thank you very much for that info.
I have noticed there are a few on a internet gun auction site for around $250 price range.
I think it is the best value handgun for the money. Hope I win one.

You'll pretty much find fans of the P95 here, (now who would have thunk it?) but you will also if you do a search find folks that had problems with theirs. Then again, if you have a problem with a pistol, where you gonna go these days? to the internet and to an internet forum for that specific brand of gun.

I actually have 3 ruger P95 decockers and would not turn down a fourth if it shows up at the right time ($$). That will probably be my limit though. I have a P89 that has the safety decock on it and just don't like that feature as well... some others do though.

I actually have one of the earlier ones and prefer it over the newer version. Mostly because I like the squared off trigger guard (where I tend to put my left index finger).

I agree the non texture grip is kinda slippery, but a Hogue slip on finger groove grip fixed that.

I never have liked pistols with the squared off trigger guard front... just don't quite get it. What I've learned to do is keep my finger on the right side of the slide release pin that sticks out... you can feel it with your trigger finger and it is in the perfect place for me. I guess I have small hands and short fingers because the tip of my finger just barely reaches the side of the front of the trigger guard.

I don't wrap my off hand index finger around the trigger guard either, so if it's round, or square isn't that important to me.

I'm a big fan of the pebbled grip frames though, and I prefer the de-cocker to the safety models.

I just added this one (built in 2005) to my own small collection:

Mine is slightly older....1997 model. My friend has a newer one like yours, and it is notably more accurate. Hard to say for sure, as I may have just shot the barrel out of mine. I am considering getting a replacement barrel.
