What do y'all think about these? I have numerous other Ruger handguns, but none of the 'P' series 9mm/.40/.45's. I know they're built like tanks and just plain work, but I'm curious as to the ergonomics and 'feel' and would like input from forum members. FWIW, aside from a Mark IV Target, my other current semi-autos are 1911s, Hi Powers and smaller Berettas. Thanks in advance!

They are Rugers version of Glock ….. as far as reputation, affordability, dependability, etc.

The decock version is the only version of the P guns that I like. I do not like a slide mounted safety, but the decock and DA trigger (first press) do away with the poor ergo's of a slide mounted safety. DAO would be my second choice.
I have 2 or 3 95's in different flavors. I like them because the grip is just a bit smaller than the 93 so fits my smallish hand better. I got my first (KP95DC) as soon as they hit the wholesaler's inventory (I still had an FFL back then). Carried it for years until a job change required a smaller, less obtrusive handgun.
Depending on the real reason you want one would make choosing which one to get that more important. You mention the 95 but if you want a true P-series pistol I would get a KP89DC. To me that is the heart and sole of the P-guns. A KP94DC (9mm) is actually my favorite (in REM finish).

I would say my P95DC with textured grip and pic rail is heavy and bulky but I like that. Grip is kinda fat and I like that took. I am 5' 10" and slender with hands that can palm a basketball (barely) if that helps on the grip.

The P95DC is nothing like a 'Glunk', totally different design.... Double Action to Single Action trigger....(DA/SA) with the hammer down, yes there is actually a hammer on the back of the pistol that has to go forward to strike the firing pin, anyway... with the hammer down the first pull of the trigger is long and heavy but once the round fires the slide travels back and chambers another round with the hammer now cocked back and the pull of the trigger is then very short and light. (I know I'm explaining something everyone knows here... but....). Also there is no Safety lever on these... the lever on the side is to decock the hammer.... if the hammer is cocked back in the single action position when you flip this lever down the hammer falls forward but there is a block to it hitting the firing pin.... this is the safest way to decock one of these DA/SA pistols.
Again, to correct hittman, nothing like a Glock other than the P95 was built on a polymer frame, but Glocks are striker fired and nothing like DA/SA... Ruger about 15+ years ago drank the Glock kool-aid and went to striker fired and abandoned their P series pistols and this is when I stopped 'collecting' their handguns and switched over to Sigs... (who also drank the kool-aid but not quite as much). They still do make a DA/SA pistol which is an absolute classic... the P226.
Before I went to Sig I considered the P95DC the ultimate in semi-auto pistols and would often say the reason Ruger had to change was they could not make anymore improvements on it and so the design folks there had to abandon them and create something new to prove and keep their jobs....
Reading comprehension is vital.
I said nothing of the mechanics of the gun.

I think the P serries are under appreciated. Aside from whatever virtues or vices it may have, my P95 is chambered in 30 Luger, a sentimental favorite cartridge of mine,

My P95 was manufactured in 1996. I have no use for rails either and think pistols look much better without them.

Just wondering if you ever got your P95 ? If you did you would know it is one of the most underrated pistols you could find. I absolutely love mine. Always Reliable and it hits what you are aiming at...all of the time....every time....

I think they are fine overly built heavy duty handguns and mine have been 100% reliable.

I really think your last paragraph say it all. The P95DC was the ultimate in that no changes had to be made...so they just dropped it....I have heard this before and I agree with that assumption 100%.

I bet you are glad you got yours !!
It was at a time when we didn't have much money and were dealing with a psycho ex and a custody battle (biggest reason for the lack of funds). Found out she was trying to convince some people to come "teach me a lesson".
Since then he has actually given us a couple of others that he could no longer shoot. The .25 needed a new firing pin spring manufactured and the other, in 9mm Makarov, he could no longer rack the slide.
