Ruger P-series boxes?

So, does anyone know when they switched from the Black boxes to the Gray ones? I've got a P-89 from 1992 in the Gray box, but no frame of reference for guns prior to that.

I've now got two P-85 Mk II's that need boxes, and I'd like to know what type to begin searching for.

The color has nothing to do with it---I'm pretty sure they sell them on the Ruger site---not exactly cheap though.

I have two P85s and one came with a cardboard box.

The price doesn't bother me, but I'd like to get some boxes that are correct for the guns.

The only P-85 Mk II's that I've seen for sale, all have black boxes when a box is present, hence my question.

So you're saying that they originally were available in both colors?

I think if you go back you will find as said above the first ones were in the square ,yellow/black box, then there was a grey one that had a smoother finish ,not the tecture the current ones have and it had a small metal ( maybe plastic) name plate glued to the center of the lid, and then the grey , rough textured cases , like the current ones, but had a different molded bottom, as they would NOT stack properly, also the end of the plastic cases had changd over the years, so they could "add" the labels on them, and nOT the carboard shippers they came inside of and then there was the black boxes.........I looked through my old cases but could not find the early ones to take a picture of them.....
I do have some of the more current style ones, grey and I'd let them go for $15 and whatever the shipping would be to you.........let me know by e-mail

1st year guns came in both the square blk/yellow and the Light Grey boxs.
