Over the years I've had a few chances to buy LE model P series pistols. They are all blacked out to include the frame, slide, barrel, trigger, hammer, small controls, etc. I've seen a PP-90D, PP-93D, etc. I've missed a few but finally found one at a fair enough price. On the box the prefix is PP-944D. Its basically a P94DC in 40S&W thats ALL black. This example is also U marked after the SN#.

I'm just trying to learn anything I can about these models but I can't find anything online and I recall reading online about them before. Production numbers, distributers, etc. I wrote Chet15 already so he may have more. My google foo must be broke.

I stripped the TW 25 off and took some more pictures trying to show the black. It looks like stainless steel that was blackened.

I ALMOST became an "instant" P series collector. There's a "chain" of eight gun store/ranges across the lower half of FL called Shoot Straight. I have a couple stores relatively near by. Almost all of their used guns go either through their gun shows (they're also the promoter of Florida Gun Shows and have half the tables at these shows), or they put their other used guns on GB. Since they offer free transfers to their local stores I watch their auctions on GB. Earlier this week I saw several P-series pistols. Four of them went for $205-$280. There's one left if anyone is interested;

Here are links to the four that recently sold;

I saw those. The seller won't ship to Oregon for no particular reason . I hate spectating!

Only one P series I am interested in: the KP345. Overall smaller .45 and lighter and perfect for me. Tuff construction will last me and my son(s).

On the bright side, none of the guns you linked to were DC models. Thats when my blood pressure really increases....a .01 NO reserve auction for a P89DC and I can't bid because I live in Oregon [PRO]

Thankfully its the sellers way of limiting his own sale prices by cutting off huge areas of buyers for no particular reason. The gun and its mags are perfectly legal in OR. I've contacted several of these sellers to let them know OR is still open for business but none have seemed to care. "Move to a better state" :mad:

Looks like they installed the hammer pivot wrong. I doubt it was Ruger but rather someone who took it apart and then reassembled it wrong. Ironically there was also a P91 listed on gun broker about a month ago that was put together the same way. Hadn't seen it before then and now this is the second one.

You would think looking at that slot in the grip would clue them in that something wasn't quite right. The P91 was even scratched on the slide with a big line all the way down the right side from it swinging up and rubbing against the metal slide. Somebody probably thought they had a real POS on their hands when it's scratched itself during firing.

I bid on that pistol thinking I would rescue it but it went for well over 300 so I let it go.

I have a PP90DC from Montana Highway patrol. It is as you say all blacked out. You covered as much as I know in your first post. Glad to see some P-gun post even if it is from another certified P-nut!!

Keep the P-guns alive!!

Heck I have the flyers from a LE armorerss school I went to showing the p series that came with an integral laser and I was a police chief in Montana at the time and I'd never seen these "police model" variants before! I'm thinking I may have moved to North Dakota to take a chief job there before they all came out though.

IF You really wanted a gun they wouldn't ship to your state , couldn't you have it shipped to say a FFL in a different state that would ship it on to you ? I know that would cost you more in shipping and fees but if you wanted it bad enough could it be worth it ?

If I recall correctly Roy and I were bidding on the same gun. I saw it was him and I let him win it. I do have some other regrets in life as well. ;]
Been a long time and I did have the P-gun sickness pretty bad there for awhile. Thanks Al, I appreciate it.

Don't know if that is even legal but the issue is the middle FFL is taking a chance that the deal will go through... I doubt you would find one willing to do it. But I really don't have a clue as to if it can be done...
