Hi
I am looking to a self build Ruger 10.22 derivative and have considered a Ruger hammer forges barrel. I would welcome opinions on these barrels and any other suggestions i.e. comparisons with Volquartsen or Kidd
Thanks, best
Jack

I personally feel that the hammer-forged barrels by Ruger are some of the best rimfire barrels out there. I easily and consistently get sub-one inch groups at fifty yards with bulk ammo out of mine. With quality ammo they are truly "tack-drivers" and can produce a single ragged hole of minimum size at fifty yards.
Another plus that I have found is that after the break-in period they are very easy to clean.

I've got limited experience with the fancy stuff....but my Ruger factory hammer-forged T22 barrel is most impressive.

I have a paper target from a few years back, that using a bipod at 40 yards, gave me a nickle size hole eaten away with 25 shots.
