Saw a GP100 with a 6" barrel blue and didn't really have a lug just a shrouded ejector rod looked very unusual are these rare or worth a premium? or is this considered a 1/2 lug?

Worth more? Probably not, but folks that prefer them, or need them to fill a hole in a collection have been known to pay a premium.

As to the premium, yes and no........the reason Ruger dropped the half lug is because the full lugs were selling better. But half lug 6" GP's are not rare, there's always a bunch on GunBroker.I prefer the half lugs, but the full lugs are great too. Blue half lug 6" GP's seem to be more common, Ruger made a new batch of them fairly recently, they said they found some NOS barrels so they built some up.
I had always thought that if Ruger made a half lug 4" adjustable sight GP they would have a real winner on their hands, but as of yet they have refused to do it :roll:

That'd be called a Security Six! Granted, a bigger Security Six but .....
I too like the half lugs 'cause they remind me of the Security Six models.

With the fixed sight 4" GP100's it's the other way around, the half lugs are more common and the full lugs command a slight premium. I haven't seen many full lug stainless 4" fixed sight .357's, and I want one pretty bad.......but the half lug blue .38's and stainless half lug .357's seem to be everywhere now.
Ruger just either made or "found" a batch of the half-lug fixed sight .38 Special 4" GP100's. These, to me, look the most like a Service Six, more so than the adjustable sight stuff.
When I was new to Rugers, at first I couldn't tell the difference between a late model Service Six and a half lug GP100 at first glance.
