Ruger GP 100 44 front sight ?

Understand I've only seen a limited number of these guns. The last one I bought (recently) was better than the first one I bought (when it first came out) and it is better. There is a gap still. I have no idea if it's getting better in general or has to do with the sights as they come in. That's assuming they are purchased rather than made by Ruger. I would say I'd expect some gap, you have to look at enough guns to decide what you can live with. I had a problem with the first one, but I can live with this last one. I like the gun in general and the triggers are excellent (in my limited experience). That helps me over look the sight issue. I like a good double action trigger. By coincidence I bought this last gun sight unseen (pun not intended) I had a picture but it wasn't a good picture that addressed the actual question. If it's that important to you, I would certainly buy from a LGS rather than having one chosen by someone else. Understand if you buy from a Bud's or Grabagun, or even ACRYLICTNK all these guys are going to do is grab the next one in the stack. I'm assuming, but, don't trust the gun that you are going to get, from the picture you see. It may only be a picture from their log, they pulled off the internet. Best I can tell you.
I just received one of the new 5" blue, half lug 5 shot 44 GP-100's from Lipsey's. The gap is still there, but one has to look harder for it. It's barely visible. Be advised that the barrel on this model is a serious hunk of steel with a large hole in the middle. I may look into replacing the gold bead with a red ramp. Be advised that this model has the front sight dovetailed into the barrel, no spring and plunger. I just received it on Tuesday, so I haven't got to shoot it yet and the weather is getting worse for new years. Bob 
Today I popped for a Talo .44 Special GP100. The front sight gap is way better than what I've seen, but still has a tiny gap. Way less noticeable, so I 'accepted' it. I am a SA guy, but thought this would be a way more 'robust' .44 Special than my CA Bulldog for CC. Of course it is 'bigger' and 'heavier'. Trade-offs ... Oh, I bought the Talo rather than normal, because I like the front sight better and it doesn't have rubber grips. SA trigger pull out of the box is surprisingly good. Now to see how it shoots! One thing about a GP100 that I don't like -- the recoil shield doesn't match the cylinder shape, so the cylinder sticks out.... Kind of 'odd'.
Anyway, if it was me, I would check the front sight before buying (ie. gun in hand). When I bought mine today they also had a 'regular' GP100 .44 Special and it had the large front sight gap....
