What is the difference between the new Ruger Vaquero barrel and the older Vaquero? I am in the process of trying to find one in 45lc to replace the one on the gun.

I just mic'ed a New Vaquero & Vaquero barrel OD. Both were the same OD. So the next question would be the thread pitch. I doubt Ruger would change something like that. Hopefully,, someone else will know the answer to that question.

I kind of thought that would be the case, but I had to check with the experts. :)
The next question would be if the barrels are the same as the Blackhawks. I know the sight setups are different, but I'm thinking the barrels are the same. From what I can tell the firearm itself is the same except for some modification on the upper strap. If this is so, I will be able to get a used barrel much easier.

I have to agree with (contender) I doubt ruger would tool up for a different pitch. Even on the Blackhawk barrels. Yet, I'm not the expert.

I would not hesitate to bet that the Blackhawks/Vaqueros/New Vaqueros and Super's (not including the Hunter series) share barrel threads.

I am pretty sure you are right. I think I'm going to get down and find a barrel.
