Can a .357-caliber New Model Vaquero cylinder be made to work in an OM (3-screw) .357 Blackhawk?....I'm not talking the likelihood of it being a "drop in fit", just wondering if the nominal sizes of the two would allow it to be fitted to the other gun....Also, is the ratchet design and the barrel threads of the two the same?.....
Thanks for any insight.

Yes and yes barrel threads are the same!
The NEW Vaquero and OM 357 are built to the same size frame and cylinders.

I Built two 44 specials not too long ago. One on a FT and one on the later Ribbed rear sight frame. The barrels and cylinders were from NM Flattop mid frame Blackhawks. I can't remember having to do anything to the cylinders. Both barrels tightened up with front sight aligned at 12 o'clock. I adjusted the barrel cyl gap on both.
