Ruger .30 Carbine Wildcat

Hi, newbie here, I bought a Ruger .30 Carbine with the express intention of rechambering it to 32-20 loaded with .308 diameter bullets. I later discovered that the loaded 32-20 brass would be too small in diameter to fill the Ruger cylinder throats. My next choice was one of the 30 wildcats around in the past, 30 whisper, etc. Has anybody any experience or knowledge with this? Thanks, George M.

If it's the new model Blackhawk, the 32/20 cases will do nicely in the 30 carbine cylinder as is. Just run a 30 Carbine carbide sizer over them and load them with the carbine seater. I speak from experience.

The 32-20 can be fire formed to use in the 30 carbine as a straight walled case, however you are right about the smaller neck not working in the same cylinder.
You could make a 38-30 (so to speak)

Using Starline 32-20 brass you don't have to trim the brass.
As said in a "NM" cylinder with .308/309 bullets is fun to shoot.

OK, school me. Why can't I dod the ame in my "Old Model" .30 Carbine Blackhawk? Not that I would, just courious as to the differences.

Gary Reeder will rechamber your cylinder to his 300 GNR. He has dies and loading data too. Cartridge looks like an improved 30 Herrett. He needs the entire gun to check the head space after the rechamber. When I sent mine to him it was back at my house in about a week.

Had mine done on the original cylinder. I'll have to own up to not doing much more than making noise with it.. A product of way to many guns and way to little time. Can say that the carbines converted to 300 GNR by Reeder have a good reputation. Can also add that the cartridge is very easy to form..

I added some Bisley parts to mine...
