Captain George Kennedy US Army (Served 1943-1959)

Short Bio: He made his acting debut two years before in a touring production of “Bringing Up Father;” he would continue to perform as a radio actor until the outbreak of World War II. The service would occupy the next 16 years of his life, during which he was instrumental in establishing the Army Information Office, which provided technical service to the film and television industries, and spun records as a disk jockey on Armed Forces Radio.

Great actor that I never felt was type cast. He was just as good in Cool Hand Luke and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot as he was funny in the Naked Gun series. Rip, George. You brightened my day on many occasions...

I liked him in everything I remember seeing him in. Cool Hand Luke always sticks out, of course! His military service was news to me, too. Thanks for a lot of good memories as well as your service, Mr. Kennedy. RIP, Sir!

Sorry to see another great one go. Most of the actors in movies today just don't cut it for me. They just don't seem like real mensch. Probably why I don't see many these days. I was so outraged at what Disney Co. did in bouncing American workers for foreigners and making them train their replacements by threatening their severance that I vowed I will never again watch a Disney production. Nor will I ever take my grandkids to their theme parks.

He was a great actor... One of my favorite roles of his was a rather small but very significant role in the 1965 classic Shenandoah. (James Stewart) The role I understand was done as a favor to his friend Stewart.

He'll be missed..I liked him playing the mechanic for the airlines in "Airport 75" or whatever year it was...he played "Patroni" and saved the 707 from being pushed off the runway by the snow plows...man I sweat every inch of the fight with him....

Liked also liked Cool Hand Luke, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, The Dirty Dozen, Airport, Airport '75, Airport '77, Airport '79, etc. Another good one that I remember was Kennedy playing Herman Scobie in Charade(1963) with Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Walter Matthau, & James Coburn.

Airport 1970.
Loved that scene. Kid says 'the instruction book says that was impossible'. Patroni says 'Kid, that's the one nice thing about the 707. It can do everything BUT read!' Always loved that line.

Kennedy called Idaho home. Was in an assisted living place in Middleton, one of the bedroom communities of the Boise area. Didn't even know that.
