That is too bad, one of my favorites. But after the life he led, making it to 86 was quite an accomplishment.

86, yeakes, he lived a wild life. Lucky to make it that long. that triple XXX album was insulting, racist, womanizing and down right vulgar. but man that was music great. "Useless" on the other guitar was amazing. and like him, I still love, that old panhead of mine !....(I have two, 1965 and 1961)

Yeah I saw him once. About midway into the performance he became pretty irate and stormed off. You could hardly understand him. It was that rough spell he had in the mid 90's. It was at a club in Chillicothe OH. I was there for work and we saw his name on the sign outside......we went back that night and dang if his bus wasn't there. I wasn't upset he walked off....heck that's part of the "Yankee Rebel Son" attitude he's known for.
Some of his best music wasn't on the radio.
agreed, that "Cocaine Carolina" was a great song. good time to mention he's in the country western song writers hall of fame in Nashville Tenn.

RIP. I had a girlfriend once that introduced me to David Allen Coe's music. I will never forget the song about "stains on my pillow where you once laid your head." A true Outlaw for sure.

A few pours of Wild Turkey 101 and you can recall many things.....like a lot of DAC songs.... ;)

Yep....a lot of DAC couldn't be played on the radio......Pandora will play some of his raw stuff but BLEEP words out. DAC is DAC.....it's what made him DAC... ;)

I have done screwed up … been a fan and have listened to DAC since about ‘83-ish, and I’ve had many, many opps to see him here locally and always said “next time”. Well, ain't no next time …
