RIP ~ David McCallum

He was married 56 years to his current wife and had about 3 or 4 kids and a batch of grandchildren; everyone loved that munchkin..!!

His character and Gibbs were the two reasons I started watching the series. I thought they were good anchor characters and made the series interesting. I liked him at U.N.C.L.e. and I liked him in NCIS and several things in between. May you rest in peace, Mr. McCallum you gave us many years of enjoyment.

I too was saddened at the news. And, like many others,, I've enjoyed his performances in the many things he's done.
From "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." to NCIS. And many may recall he was in the movie; "The Great Escape" with Steve McQueen.

And from what little I've heard over the years,, as a person, he was well liked by those who knew him.

RIP

He was a devoted family man and quite accomplished beyond his acting talents. Please don't forget his role in The Great Esacpe! MGRHS.

Last night when I got home from work I flipped the TV on to TCM to check out the new on demand movies. The Great Escape was on and the first actor I saw was David McCallum. I watched it for a few minutes and realized that he was probably the last major actor in that movie to pass. There are a couple of actors from the movie still alive but the majority of the cast is in the great stalag beyond....

I had been thinking about him and his career on NCIS recently; had been watching a number of NCIS episodes on various channels recently and really enjoyed his performance/character; as mentioned above, a great anchor and scene stealer! I also read he was a great mentor to some of the less experienced actors on the series.
Ironic that he would die on the day CBS was doing a NCIS 20th anniversary tribute (and he was the only character still on that series who was an original cast member). He had a good long life run lasting till 90; kept his mind and was active doing what he enjoyed to the end, had the company of his family, spouse and friends; one really can't ask for more than that in life...
