They emailed me a return so I can Fed Ex it , they stated a box with NO writing on it , other than RMA number and label , for those of you that's returned in the past , does it absolutely have to have no other writing , or brand of what might have been in the box before ? have to dig around a bit to find one with nothing on it maybe .

Cover the box that you choose with heavy brown wrapping paper and put the label on that.

Actually, USPS et al recommend against using brown wrapping paper, because it can get torn off en-route. I go to an office supply store and buy a suitable size brown cardboard box for a couple of bucks when I need to do this.

And to save yourself some heartache, either bubble wrap your firearm, or double box it, or both.
Also, make sure that there are no other bar codes on the box, as they can confuse the shipping scanner.

I often double box stuff,,, WITH shipping info attached to the inside item. That way,,, if the outer box meets the Samsonite Gorilla, it can be matched up with inner box & contents.
I also peel off exterior labels & stuff that has nothing to do with who I'm shipping the item to. And if I can't peel it off,,, I mark over it. It's easy to take a sharpie & make enough of a marking to ensure less confusion as to who & what's going on. Plus,,, I tape down an external shipping label. Clear shipping tape over addresses & labels is a good way to assist the carrier in delivery & reduce the chances of loss.

You can get free shipping boxes from UPS/FedEx/USPS. Go to FedEx or ask your FedEx delivery person and they should be able to get/give you one. Then box up your gun and then put it inside the FedEx box and seal it up good.
In the box that has the gun in it, write up a note that explains the who, what, why, when, how, etc. for the folks at Ruger, it helps them.

Just sent my new Ruger back last Friday and used a Fedex Express box that I had left from an earlier package. I just peeled the old label and taped it up well. Ruger sent an email on Monday that they received it.

Easy solution, just open the glue seam on the box and turn it inside out, and reglue/tape.

There's a place called U-Line. They sell absolutely everything related to packaging, and a whole lotta other stuff too.
I buy a dozen rifle-size boxes at a time, for roughly $2.50 apiece. When I need a smaller box, I cut these and modify their size as needed. Really works well, and I never have to go searching for a box.
