GOA Question

Nah, I just trash them like I hang up on Town center calls. Didn't ask for politically motivated unsolicited responses, and they may make me change my mind when voting. The more I'm pestered, the less likely you are to get my vote. I may not vote for the opposition, but I sure ain't going to vote for you if you continue to pester me. Mickey mouse is still a vote, bother me enough and Mickey's my choice.

its simply called "seeding" when they send out all kinds of that , many , many in fact, in hope that a certain percentage of the responders will send them out ( return to applicable) and if its 10 % this and 20% next time, in time it all adds up.........NRA had been doing it since the beginning ..........:rolleyes::(

Just wondering how many actually send in the numerous requests to Congressmen/Women, Senators , or the President that the GOA sends out.

Do you mean letters to the various pol's regarding legislation? I will always take the few seconds to send my comments.

If the request is attached to a request for a donation, I will weigh the issue. But, I consider my membership contribution to be sufficient, for the most part.

Do you seriously think any comments from the citizens will change the way an elected official thinks and acts. They all have their own personal agenda. If it coincides with yours, great. If not, there isn't a thing you can do about it. Heck, there isn't even anything that can be done when the blatantly violate their oath of office.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Can you name a single legislator that doesn't violate that oath each and every day?

Few years back Lindsey Grapevine sent me a reply to one saying he would never ever support an anti gun bill.. then the next day he sent me one saying he was in support of one... figure that out I still to this day am trying to.

Simple he was playing both sides of the fence, you ended up on both mailing lists.

Sadly, I think what @Jeepnik posted above is true. Huge waste of time to contact politicians.

Probably won't change any minds, but it does let them know that people are watching.

It takes only seconds to send an email, so what is the harm?!?

I send them in and request an acknowledgment when I do, both snail mail and online.
I have been known to do the same with petitions and letters from Everytown, Brady, and the Mad Mommies. On some of the online ones, you can edit out their comments and fill in your own text. Nothing like your rep getting mail from Brady asking them to vote against an anti-gun bill on their letterhead. :devilish::ninja:

I send the emails and I stamp and send the postcards. The effort and cost are minimal and it helps make the politicians know that we who are pro-gun are out there. I recall many years ago talking with a then member of Congress. He said that a single letter on an issue might not get any consideration at all, but if 10 or more letters came in, one of the staff members in the Congressman's office was assigned the job of tracking the letters and researching the issue for consideration by the Gongressman. The key number he said was 10, despite the reality that he represented over half a million voters. So doing your small part might make a difference with an elected official who is not committed to the gun control agenda.

As a Life Member of the NRA I rarely receive solicitations for a donation, but I do send something to the NRA-ILA several times a year. Plus my membership and monthly payment to the GOA and the 2nd Amendment Foundation. It might not be much but at least I am doing what I can rather than just complaining on internet forums.

First off; "Thank You!"

At least you are trying. Many do not even try, but they do complain.
