red dot

Welcome to the Forum!

You will need a scope base that can accept a red dot base. Usually a "Ranch Rifle " model has scope ring mounting cuts that you could get a Weigand base for. From there,, a red dot that can mount to a weaver/pictanny cut will mount up.

Could he replace the hand guard with a one that has a scout rail and then just put the red dot on it? It's been years since I touched one of my mini-14s but that is what did with my M1 Carbine.
Damn, I worry about my brain sometimes... I just went to look at one of my minis and this is what I found:

There's several ways you can go about it. Here's what I did, because I thought I wanted it to be as low profile as I could manage.
The mount is a Burris product, for their Fast Fire red dot, on their website, they do NOT state that it will fit the Mini 14, only the M77 and Red Hawks an such. But it do.

I wasn't sure if empty cases would smack the mount, but apparently they do not.

I really need to pull that mini-14 I took a picture of above out and shoot it... it's been years... that puppy I put way too much money into.... not only the barrel, but the trigger group and such.... trigger on it is about 2.5 lbs.- 3 lbs.... the issue is my gun club has put way too many restrictions on the rifle range since some idiot developers decided to put a sub division on the other side of the 300 yard berm. I'm looking forward to the east coast gathering.... I think I'll actually bring most of my Rugers this year.
