Red bullets...............

I have been using cast bullets from Missouri Bullet Co., using the 240 gr. cast SWC mostly. These bullets are hard cast, and are very accurate in my guns. I buy these from my local supplier.

Last week I bought a box of 500, and when I opened them, I noticed they were a rather nice looking dark red color. This indicates they are the Tek coated bullets. They are from the same mold as regular cast, but no lube in the lubrication groove.

I've loaded fifty rounds of .44 Special with these to see how the compare with my loading data and gun.

Anybody have experience with these, or similar?

Lots of guys been powder coating their cast bullets, no lube needed.
Haven't tried any yet but they have good reviews. I suspect the ones you have
are similar. good luck. ps

I have some from badmanbullets in 32 that I like a lot shoot clean easy loading will be ordering 44 cal. soon.

I've been using SNS coated in .45 Colt, .45 ACP, and 9mm. They're as accurate as any other cast bullet I've used, and a whole lot cleaner, for handloading, than wax lubed or tumble lubed. I really like them. As soon as I use my current supply up I'm going to use Contender's instructions to coat my own cast bullets.

I also tried Eggleston's coated, but thought the coating was a little thin.

I, at first, really didn't care for the coated bullets (the ones I get are green!) After using them, I honestly like them better than the lubed cast bullets. They won't gum up your seating die, and they don't stick together, and they work just as well. What's not to like? Other than the fact they look funny?!

Bob , you will like these Hi Tec bullets. I shoot these, .41, .44, .45. They are slick to pick up. But they really shoot well. I drive about 30 miles to their shop. This place is in the country. But good folks to deal with. I asked them if silly questions are asked. The best one,, someone thought the date on box was expiration date. They dont get moldy

I use their "red" bullets in my .480, and like them. Also using some in my .401 Herters Powermag. The Herter's actually has a bore of .403, so Missouri Bullets made a small run for me unsized. These measure .402, and with the coating are as close to .403 as I am likely to get without casting my own.

Test results from some in 44 I cast and coated.
Fired from a 7 1/2" SBH with 20.0gr of 2400 averaging 1410fps.
The mold is a Lee TL430-240-SWC

Same bullet with 12.0gr of 2400 fired from a 3" 44spl averages 835fps.
