Some time ago, 6, 7 years, I bought a used SBH .44 seemed to be in good condition. I put a little less than 100 rounds through and then while cleaning found the forcing cone? was cracked. for what ever reason just put it away for few years till I took it's hammer and put it on a vaquero. The revolver then sat as a pile of parts till the other day. I just looked up some general pricing and with labor, shipping, and parts I could just as easily buy another for what it would cost to rebuild this one. What say you, what direction would you go? Does the pricing seem correct? I think this .44 was mfg in 2001.

Yep, I had that thought, but I don't know what kind of ammo was used in that gun, don't know past history. Me, I only shot W white box.

If it were mine it would be going to Ruger for rebuild and re blue. It will come back like new for a minimum and fair price. Just ask for a quote. You will be pleased.

You won't be able to beat Ruger's repair. They'll fix it for nothing and pay shipping both ways. If the gun needs re-bluing it's $140 and it will look like new. Plus if you want a different barrel length they will install anything they currently offer; 4 5/8", 5 1/2" or 7 1/2". The only charge would be about $38 for a replacement hammer.

Thought I'd mention I called Ruger this morning and they are going to send an RA. Here's the thing, I expected to be on hold a half hour. Instead I got through after one ring, had the wrong place and was transferred. One ring later they picked up. Holly cow, how great is that!
